Hey Joey – Happy New Year!!! I wanted to ask if you could post some “Gloucester Little League News” to your blog. It’s that time again, gearing up for the baseball season.
Thanks so Much! Cindy Rich
RHS Baseball coach John Parisi is going to host a baseball coaches clinic on Sat Feb.13 in RHS gym. The clinic will be organized by John but run for the most part by Jason Larocque. Recent clinics Jason ran over Christmas vacation have received very good reviews. The cost is $25 per participant. A notice about this clinic will be run on the Gloucester Times (a notice appeared in Jan. 21st GDT). Please contact John Parisi if you have any questions. John Parisi- jparisi@rockport.k12.ma.us
Prior to the start of the season, every manager should attend at least one of these coaches clinics to get ready for the upcoming season. From personal experience I can tell you the time spent is well worth it. Great ideas on running a practice and teaching baseball fundamentals. – Dean

I saw the Lifetime movie “The Pregnancy Pact” at the same time the rest of you did: 9 p.m. last night. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I knew that it was an “inspired by a true story” movie, and I had been told by some people who’d seen advance copies that it was wildly off-base but, more importantly, completely misleading.
I’ll be totally honest: I figured people were overly sensitive. I figured it was a “ripped from the headlines” movie that took the idea of a pact and ran with it, went wild with fiction based on the tiny nugget of the fascinating idea that teen girls could plot together to become pregnant on purpose.

Entering tags on each photo I upload to flickr is sometimes a painstaking process but when you think about the sheer number of photos taken (say 100,000 or more) there would be absolutely no way to ever locate a particular photo without going through all 100,000 photos unless you have each one tagged with an identifying name.
It is through this tagging system that I can locate and isolate certain photos. It may be painstaking but the archive of photos from Gloucester and of my family that I can access with a few clicks of the keyboard are pretty remarkable.

On August 5, 2001, the Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Association (GFWA) dedicated a monument to honor the women who have been – and are – the soul of fishing communities.
As Angela Sanfilippo, GFWA president, so eloquently said at the dedication ceremony:
“The memorial serves as a testimonial to what wives, mothers, sisters, and children of fishermen of the world have endured because their men chose to be on the water. They had no choice but to stand on rock, to be on land.”
Envisioned by the wives, mothers, daughters, and sisters of Gloucester fishermen, the memorial honors not only the faith, diligence, and fortitude of the wives of fishermen and mariners everywhere but also honors all women for their unselfish contribution to the well being of their families and their communities.

From Josh Brackett-
If you care about Cape Ann and you want a good read, get hold of Elyssa East’s new book, Dogtown: Death and Enchantment in a New England Ghost Town. It’s a real page turner and features many local characters.
Also, could you list CapeAnnPolitics.org in your blogroll? Not much traffic there now, as this is a slow season for politics, but there will be more as we get into the warmer weather. See especially my Cape Ann TV interview that explains what it’s about. CATV gives permission for any use as long as it’s not commercial.
Thanks, JB
Dennis Poirier An American Impressionist Painter
Dennis Poirier grew up in Gloucester, Massachusetts. The colors, sights, and sounds of the busy port and fishing fleet inspired Dennis. His earliest memory is of his father drawing his portrait.  Dennis says his parents always supported his art and that gave him confidence.
Dennis began to paint and soon became a part of the long line of Cape Ann’s contribution to American impressionist painters. He feels proud and fortunate to be part of the Cape Ann legacy. Please Visit Dennis’ Website to view many of his Paintings and also for; Gallery Information , Workshop and Class Dates and Purchasing Details.Â
