Deb Clarke Gets Her Winter Art Show Ready!
Gloucester Artist and Regular Contributor to GMG, Deb Clarke will be having an Exhibit and Sale of her Works at The Random Arts Gallery in Magnolia during the month of December. Here are a few Photos of the set up. More Photos and Information coming soon!
$25 drawings. will remove these from the wall and sell them from clipboards. signed, no frame, no mat.
This is what I accomplished yesterday at Randomarts in Magnolia. Today I will re-hang and adjust the lights. the wall space gets smaller and smaller everytime I look at my work. the backwall has my ‘new’ work: the drawings from this past year. need to get some putty to keep some of the work from ‘moving’ on the wall. small detail of my favorite work follows.
4 mixed media ‘drawings’ with oil and leaf on 5×5″ panels. definitely need sticky putty to keep these from wobbling. selling all work unframed. folk can spend as much money or not on frames. and get the art at a very affordable price. these panels will be under a hundred. still working out prices.
best to all,
deb.

Sawyer Free Art Auction! Only a Few More Days Left!
This the last full week for bidding on the Paintings that are up for Auction at The Sawyer Free Library.
This is a great Video Joey did of last years Art Auction. It describes How the Silent bidding works at the Library Art Auction.
I usually Contribute a Traditional Cape Ann scene. This Year I entered a Bright Floral Painting. I was a little bummed out Saturday when I checked the Bid Book. So far there are no bids on it. Bidding on the Painting starts a $50.00.
Even If it doesn’t sell I Have the perfect spot for it. it will be my Xmas gift to myself.

It’s a great day to shop downtown!
It’s Black Friday and everyone else is “over the bridge” and “up the line” bumping elbows at the malls, but we locals can stay on the island with our wish lists. The pop-up shop(see related Times article) Present has an incredible selection of unique gifts.
Present is a seasonal art collective made up of fifteen local men and women offering a bevy of eclectic fine craft. Living, creating and recycling on Cape Ann are common themes reflected in the goods including bags made from reclaimed sweaters and recycled sailcloth. Look for jingle flounder, lovely wreaths, hand-knit hats, pottery, felted flowers and bowls, fish prints, and photographs inspired by local people and landscapes.
Delightfully unusual wares also include unique prints and collages, hand-dyed clothing printed with seaweed and other found materials, clever clothing and accessories for children, iron-pressed sandwich keepers, hand-knit wire jewelry, beautifully sewn doll clothes, and itty bitty jewels. Present is a great place to shop for pretty things and one-of-a kind gifts and ornaments.
Present is Karen Chapin, Amanda Cook, Jane Cunningham, Jessica Demarjian, Elizabeth Grammas, Frieda Grotjahn, Jill Josephson, Pam Lally, Sharon Lowe, Stephanie Mason Thibodeau, Camilla MacFadyen, Melanie Murray-Brown, Erin and Scott Place, and Mary Rhinelander.
You can visit the holiday pop-up shop at 271 Main Street, Gloucester from November 6th through December 24th, 2010.
Hours: Monday through Saturday 10-6, Sunday 12-5; extended evening hours on Thursday; also open 6-9 on Men’s and Ladies’ Nights
Thanks!! —Sharon
BTW- You can get my Cape Ann calendars at Present, and for those of you who live out of town, you can order them here.
The Gloucester Sketchbook Project Update from eb
Gloucester Sketchbook Project Update from eb
BECAUSE of other various projects, I haven’t been able to work on my sketchbook for the past few weeks and thus there’s been a lack of updates. Sorry! So here’s a snippet of what I’ve started up with:
The hand written typography is something that I’m really excited about! I haven’t been terribly active with type in a long time, and it felt incredibly satisfying to do some hand lettering. Some are visuals that I copied by eye, just to get my craft back, but none are traced from the source. The ‘u’ in the pencil draft needs to be corrected though….its opposite slant is driving me crazy, sketch or no sketch.
