Joey asked Pauline’s Gifts for information about the 6th annual Small Business Saturday and a list of specials. She was an early adapter. Here it is, and thanks Pauline!
“In 2011 the Senate unanimously supported Small Business Saturday, and in 2012 all 50 states had participants. This one day event is bringing awareness of the importance in supporting your Local Small Businesses and giving many small businesses a way to promote at no cost to them. If you are an American Express merchant you are able to use the tools made available to you by AMEX. Many of us receive banners, balloons, postcards, reusable bags, and lots of other swag to use for our businesses. Even those who do not take AMEX are able to utilize the promotion working with a Neighborhood Champion. These champions obtain the materials and are able to share with other businesses in their neighborhood. In 2016 there were over 6,700 Neighborhood Champions in the country. Small business owners embrace the day. Through their own promotional efforts small business owners generated an estimated $15.4 billion dollars on Small Business Saturday in 2016.” GMG search pulls up posts about Small Business Saturday in 2012. 271 Main St. Gloucester
Here on the blog, I read that there is a seasonal “pop-up” store on Main Street called Present. However, I couldn’t find any mention of the address, so I headed out with my camera to hunt the store down and shoot it (shoot photos of it, that is). I found it at 271 Main Street:
Full information about hours is in the window:
Other items include beautiful (locally made) nature-themed tee-shirts:
Oh yeah, remember to come visit us at Present‘s opening tonight! 5pm-9pm 271 Main St. next to Leonardo’s. Great locally-made gifts! Stop in and say “Hi!”.
I spent the weekend with the girlfriends for our annual Girls Only Christmas Party. On the way to the party I made a quick stop at Present on Main Street to pick up their Christmas gifts. We keep a budget of around $10 each and of course I was able to find the perfect gifts and stay on budget. I picked up each of the girls “Happy Clam” thongs for only $12 from Gloucester Oneseas. They loved them! They laughed out loud when they opened the clam shell and found what was inside.
There really isn’t anything better in life than a happy clam now is there?
The calendars are also available online here, and I will send them with a complimentary gift card.
If you’ve been down to Present at 122 Main St., you’ve seen the gorgeous locally-made gifts from several talented artisans. I’m adding the Good Harbor calendar to my Cape Ann calendar, note cards, and prints that are available at the shop. Many of us are adding items throughout the holiday season, so come downtown often and shop locally!

There’s not much worse feeling than waking up and realizing you are that horrible son or daughter that forgot to get your dad a present.
If you are THAT person, fear not. We will be open at the dock to bail your ass out.
Give us a call at (978) 283-1454 and order your dad the easiest most no-brainer gift ever and watch him smile when you deliver them. We open at 5AM 7 days a week but it’s best to call ahead so we can put exactly what you need aside for you.
I can tell you personally that lobsters as a gift have a huge impact which people do not forget. There isn’t anything where you make as much impact for as little money as lobster.
We will be open Father’s Day, best to call ahead and put in your order and we will put exactly what you want aside for your morning pick-up.
