Chickity Check It! Gloucester 2.0 From Derrick Z. Jackson Boston Globe

Gloucester 2.0

By Derrick Z. Jackson Globe Columnist

GLOUCESTER

This town’s last national burst of buzz came from the movie version of “The Perfect Storm,” in which desperate fishermen going farther and farther out in search of dwindling stocks of swordfish were swept into the abyss by a hurricane. You may soon hear about Gloucester again, as visionary leaders chart out what they hope is a perfect scenario of renewal. There are still hundreds of working fishermen here, but officials now talk of Gloucester becoming a cluster for a much broader “marine economy.” Picture an aquatic Silicon Valley — a center of research on the “wired ocean” and a workshop for entrepreneurs developing products based on discoveries from the deep.

Gloucester Mayor Carolyn Kirk demonstrates how QR codes enable an interactive smartphoe tour along the city’s HarborWalk.

Gloucester Mayor Carolyn Kirk demonstrates how QR codes enable an interactive smartphone tour along the city’s HarborWalk.

“This is what’s happening to the city, this is where we’re going,” vows Mayor Carolyn Kirk. “Come hell or high water, we’re going there.”

Touring the city this week, there was ample evidence that Gloucester can build on its seafaring heritage, even as it seeks to develop economic niches beyond fishing.

Public Toilet Seat Nest or Public Toilet Bowl Landing Pad, What Ya Got?

I was reading one of my favorite websites, www.barstoolsports.com a couple days ago and the genius writer David Portnoy goes on to explain how if you don’t build a nest around the toilet seat that you are deranged.  See the photo below of Mr Portnoy’s technique-

Quote-

There is being a tough guy and then there is being an idiot. Not building a force field is just plain stupid

BarstoolSports photo:

My theory is a bit different.  I feel that much more scary and caveman is to not build a landing pad for your turds so you don’t get that dreaded blue splash-back.

You want your poop to land gently on the pad and the half a roll of toilet paper you crumple up at the bottom of the toilet to diffuse the splash so it doesn’t come back and hit your undercarriage.  I think the splash-back is one hundred billion times more nasty than sitting on a seat that’s been cleaned several times a day.

Nothing worse than getting that blue stuff that’s all mixed up with god only knows whose poop and pee on your junk.

That’s just plain common sense and that’s why I always go with the toilet bowl landing pad over the toilet seat nest.

I go through about half a roll building my landing pads up but hey I gotta insure there’s no chance that any of that disgustingness ever comes up and splashes me.

Here’s the Joey C Patented Toilet Bowl Landing Pad Half Way Built Up-

Chickity Check It! Former Rockport Lobster Dealer Charlie Fields Has A Blog

Joey, I used to own the New England Lobster Company on Pigeon Cove Wharf and now spend retirement between Magnolia and Sun City West, Arizona. Every morning I get the GDT online and enjoy your blog contribution. I am not too sure how these blog sites actually work but as a sculptor and author of a memoir and four travel mysteries I am slowly learning how they can be effective in social networking. Check out my website designed by another blogger, Kathleen Valentine: www.charleslfields.com ( That’s an L in the middle)).
