I went to the Blackwood/March auction last night at Woodman’s. I am definitely not one of the big spenders, but I did get a nice sail boat etching for Mike for $15! I also picked up a persian rug and a turkish rug for the house, nothing too special, but great deals $20 and $40 respectively. Most of the items were from an estate on Annisquam, they had a lot of great paintings and etchings from Cape Ann artists that went from $100-$3,000. It’s really a great way to furnish a house for cheap, a lot of 10 antique chairs sold for $25. There really is something there for everyone’s price range. Remember to bring cash or a MA check, and you pay 15% buyers premium and sales tax.

I did some digging and I found some info on a Artist whose work I Love. Her Name is Debbie Clarke. If you have ever have the chance, stop by the Cape Ann Museum and see her “Fish Paintings” Joey has posted some of those in the last few weeks. Photos don’t do her works Justice. She works in Mixed Media; Glass, Canvas, Egg Tempera, Gold Leaf and more. Joey will have a Video up of her painting me in the Nude soon. Not! Actually She will be doing a “Gesture Painting” I’m really looking forward to it. Here’s a few Examples of her Work and some Links you can follow her on. She’s also on Facebook.
Right now Debbie’s work “Chorus Line” is in The Saatchi Showdown, a online art competition. You can vote for Debbie’s entry until Sunday.

Dennis Poirier An American Impressionist Painter
Dennis Poirier grew up in Gloucester, Massachusetts. The colors, sights, and sounds of the busy port and fishing fleet inspired Dennis. His earliest memory is of his father drawing his portrait. Dennis says his parents always supported his art and that gave him confidence.
Dennis began to paint and soon became a part of the long line of Cape Ann’s contribution to American impressionist painters. He feels proud and fortunate to be part of the Cape Ann legacy. It hasn’t been made into china yet but I’m thinking that some of the finer shops in town like The Black Swan, Stone Leaf, Pauline’s Gifts or Pisces would sell the hell out of this if it were made into China to collectors or people that love the area.

Nationally known SCULPTOR DANIEL ALTSHULER will open his Gloucester studio, located at Blackburn Industrial Park Unit #50, to the public on December 18, 19, and 20, 12noon-6pm each day. Everyone, all ages, welcome. Visitors will get the opportunity to see a collection of his work, witness a sculpture in progress, and get answers to questions about the sculpture process directly from him, etc.
