Earth Day Message From Beth Swan

Hi Joey!

I don’t know if you were planning on posting anything about Earth Hour on GMG or not. If not, no worries. I just thought it would be neat to get Gloucester on the map and its a fun global/local community event. I just saw an article on how it’s begun already in Sydney and thought you might be interested: <http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jTPC5ic6tJh9PiHscwgOANkJ17-wD976VV681>

Rock on!
Beth

How long have you lived in Gloucester?

One year the end of this month! Though I’ve been around visiting my husband’s family frequently in the past.

What is your favorite season In Gloucester?

I like all four seasons but am looking forward to more green stuff. We’ve had a fairly snug winter with all of the snow, but I like more usually as I’m from south of Buffalo where we get real snow.

Do you have any secret outdoor spots in Gloucester where you go to “get away”?

Fernwood Lake is sort of a hidden spot of beauty with trails on public land that connect to Wallace Pond and Ravenswood Park.

What is your favorite pizza joint in Gloucester?

Sebastian’s

What is your favorite sub shop in Gloucester?

Virgillios

What place would you go for a romantic dinner in Gloucester?

Alchemy. Though we’ve had some really nice dinners (with new baby) at the super family-friendly Gloucester House.

What is your favorite bar in Gloucester?

I don’t do the bar scene.

What is your favorite breakfast joint in Gloucester?

My husband’s bacon egg and cheese sandwiches.

What is your favorite local event in Gloucester?

I loved the Main Street events! Fiesta! I also enjoyed the summer concerts at the rock in Stage Fort Park a while back.

In the summer do you prefer the beach or to be on a boat?

Forest, then Beach, then Boat.

Who is your favorite local artist?

Marion Hall’s watercolors, Debra Bretton Robinson’s acrylics, Chris Williams’ sculptures, Anna Vojtech’s children’s illustrations . . .

Which is your favorite local beach?

Wingaersheek!

Who has the best chowder in town?

Charlie’s Place

Excluding GMG what is your second favorite local blog?

Flapping Like a Haddock.

Do you prefer haddock chowder or clam chowder?

Haddock, probably.

What were your thoughts on The Downtown Block Parties last year?

Yay! They make me happy. We need these at least once a month (if not every week)!

What is your favorite local band?

Local to MA folk: Deb Talan and Meg Hutchinson. I don’t know any Gloucester bands yet. Any suggestions?

Packed House For GGAP II

We had a lot of fun and raised money for a great cause.   People turned out and I’m proud to say that GGAP II was the first sell-out at Cape Ann Community Cinema.  We raised $2217. which will be deposited by the end of the week to The MR Children fund.  There are still 12 t shirts left which can be purchased at The Dress Code downtown and 100% of that money will be added into the total when they are sold.  Also Rob Newton will be donating a portion of the proceeds from a show this week (details to follow) into the pot.

Thanks to Sharon for taking the pictures at the show as I was too busy to be able to get any footage.

GoodMorningGloucester Fundraising T Shirt

Beth Swan, The Winner Of The GMG Logo contest and contributor to our fund raising efforts for the family of Matteo Russo sent  this mock up of what the t-shirts will look like.  The T Shirt stock arrived at my house last night and Paul Frontiero will be printing them up within the next few days.  If anyone wants one there are a limited supply of each size so let me know and I’ll try to see that you get the size you would like and be aware that 100% of the money raised for these is going to Matteo’s family.  I’d also like to thank Kat Valentine who put together the flyer to promote the G_GAP Fundraising Event at Cape Ann Community Cinema on January 28th(next Wednesday night)

Winning Good Morning Gloucester Logo Beth Swan

There were many submissions for the GMG Logo Contest and truthfully I loved every single one.

Each one had a different style that brought individual elements that I really liked and the separation between the winning design from Beth Swan at Black Swan Design and the rest was minimal but she hit everything on all points for me with the sunrise symbolizing Morning, the homie, and the simplicity of the design.

Thanks to Alicia Pensarosa, Cathy Tarr, Kat Valentine, Hedgie, and Lia Parisi for playing along.
