GHS Athlete Tess Destino Signs National Letter Of Intent To Merrimack College
Coach Meghan Maclaughlin,Tess Destino, and Coach Amanda Levie
Alex J. Destino Writes~
Our daughter Tess has accepted an offer to play lacrosse at Merrimack College next year. She signed her National Letter of Intent along side her coaches and athletic director today at GHS. A lot of hard work led to this day…
Our friend Falzarano Thom was the director of Cape Ann Youth Lacrosse when our daughter Tess first started to play lacrosse in the seventh grade.About two weeks into the season Thom came over to me to introduce himself. He said “your daughter has a lot of ability…you need to get her involved with a “Club” team.” At that time I knew essentially nothing about lacrosse. Thom made a few phone calls which led to a tryout for Tess with Revolution Lacrosse in Boston. 90% of the players involved with this program came from elite private schools around New England. We were a little out of place…but I think they were intrigued with a public school kid from Gloucester who brought a certain amount of grit and toughness to their program. So, they selected her. It was a huge commitment for her (and us) but she received excellent coaching, became a very skilled player and traveled all over against the best talent in the country. Thom, please know how grateful we are to you. Today’s signing for Tess simply does not happen without you reaching out to us.
Thank you and God Bless!
The Destino’s have been family friends for generations. Our family is super happy and incredibly proud of this beautiful young lady, and share in the excitement of celebrating this awesome achievement. Congratulations Tess! Hope you and your family, enjoy every moment of this day. Celebrate all the years of hard work, and dedication to the sport you love.
Congratulations Tess & Congratulation Mom & Dad!

Wikipedia: Andy Pratt (born January 25, 1947) is an American
rock music singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist. In the
1970s, he made a number of experimental records and scored a
commercial hit with “Avenging Annie”. After words of praise
from Rolling Stone magazine (“By reviving the dream of rock
as an art and then re-inventing it, Pratt has forever changed the
face of rock”), he tried a more commercial approach. Pratt
converted to Christianity in the late 1970s and continued to
make records and perform at big Christian pop music festivals.
Pratt has released over twenty studio albums as of April 2012.

Linda rae has another outstanding trip in Gloucester
Pick what you find interesting, you have such great photographers around. We have gathered these memories to last for the long months ahead before we can visit in the Spring. We were amazed at the Gloucester Museum, especially the hall of fishermen families. What a great idea. Could have spent hours there. We always visit the railway marina to see the latest work going on. And then there was the day last winter in a Pennsylvania grocery store when Rob discovered this famous fellow and dragged him from aisle to aisle just to catch a big smile on my face. Needless to say, he was in the way of countless shoppers who weren’t as friendly as Gloucester people. And I was ready to pack our bags and head six hours to Gloucester. Congratulations on the excellent restoration of City Hall. Magnificent!
Just to reiterate something I posted before. Your Radio Shack is exceptional. Once again I called ahead to have Travis help me with my iPhone. Their staff and his technical expertise surpass even the Apple Store. And all with a smile. You are fortunate… Don’t lose it!
Have a gentle winter, we hope to visit four or five times again next year. Thank you for Good Morning Gloucester!!
The bridge is of our little town of Milford right across from Pennsylvania situated in the beautiful Delaware River Valley .

One of the next steps includes casting a net far and wide for feedback from Gloucester visitors. Queue this on-line survey!

Editor’s note-
I find it funny on question 11 where they ask-
*How did you get your information on Gloucester? (Check all that apply)
That Good Morning Gloucester is not listed when we probably get more web traffic than all of the other listed sites combined.
If you do indeed feel that GMG is your source of Gloucester info for events then feel free to fill us in in the “other” option on question 11.

With their new show, Holiday Bizarre:Where Art and Toys Collide, Flatrocks Gallery invites you to connect to your child within. The magic of the season is brought to life in full color, with energy and irony in this group show. Hans Pundt’s sculptures, made from his vast collection of toys, are fantastic and fun, spinning on a glittering ferris wheel or tumbling from a jungle gym. With care to every detail, the viewer is intrigued and kept slightly off balance. Joy Halsted uses toys to help tell stories. She reimagines classic playthings adding an adult twist.
Icons of childhood appear in various mediums with Mary Rhinelander’s prints, Beverly Rippel’s portraits in thickly applied oil paint and Lazaro Montano’s haunting black and white photographs. Both Mia Rosenblatt and Ken Goldstrom create small sculptures in clay that are endowed with character and whimsy, yet are wildly different in nature. Fairytales and myths are explored by Anna Lane with magical pointillist gauche paintings. Anna Vojtech offers the original watercolor and pastel illustrations from her acclaimed children’s books. Lynne Sausele’s mixed media collages have a moral to share, in a surprising language. Doris Prouty’s baby quilts and Jill Solomon’s clay rattles are on display, as well as a collection of local jewelers and potters work .
It is a big holiday party and all the guests are interesting! An artist’s reception will held November 22nd from 6-8pm. The show runs through December 21st.

About the Chef’s Table
The Chef’s Table is a great way to extend our hospitality to clients
for private tastings and classes. Our antique, hand-crafted table seats up to twelve people comfortably and is uniquely located inside Savour Wine and Cheese, adjacent to the beach gourmet exhibition kitchen. Guests at the table experience an exclusive private dining experience with a menu that is designed specifically to compliment the wine pairing by our wine expert, Kathleen Erickson.
These events are typically booked for private parties and are not open to the public, however we periodically open the table to reservations on a first-come, first-served basis.
Sample Chef’s Table menus can be viewed on our website. Do not delay in making your reservations. Open Chef’s Table events tend to sell-out very quickly.
We look forward to serving you, your family and friends this holiday season.
Sincerely,
beach gourmet

I left GMG about 1 1/2 months a go. It’s hard to come up with a daily Idea and make a deadline.
But I do miss it. Let’s see how long I’ll last this time.

Very Important Meetings Regarding Development of Former Olivia’s Restaurant Site at Good Harbor Beach and Retreat House
From Paul McGeary:
There will be two important meetings in Ward 1 this week.
The first will present plans to renovate the Eastern Point Retreat House.
The second will showcase plans to redevelop the former Olivia’s restaurant site.
Details are below.
Former Site of Amelia’s/Olivia’s Restaurant at Good Harbor Beach

The meeting on redevelopment of the former Olivia’s Restaurant will be held on Saturday, Nov. 22, at 10 a.m. at the Olivia’s site at 78 Thatcher Road.
The proposal for a six-unit condominium development by 78 Thatcher Road LLC would require a special City Council permit under the zoning ordinance.
Developer John Flaherty has already received necessary variances from the Zoning Board of Appeals from the city’s height and side lot requirements. This is a chance to get a look at the project as it will go before the Council and to delve into details.

Eastern Point Retreat House
I have received the following communication from Father Dennis Yesalonia, associate vice-president of the New England Province of the Jesuit Order, which owns the Eastern Point Retreat House:

Dear Eastern Point Neighbor:
On Aug. 15, 2013, the Gonzaga Eastern Point Retreat House hosted a meeting to introduce our neighbors to the proposed capital improvements to the Retreat House. At that time, our proposal consistal of:
- The demolition and reconstruction of the retreatants wing; and
- The reconstruction of a portion of the mansion.
Following that meeting, our development team continued its review of the proposed capital project end came to the conclusion that it could be scaled back significantly, while still accomplishing the desired goal of an enhanced living environment for retreatants.
By this letter, I would like to invite you to joke us at 37 Niles Pond Road at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 20, for a presentation of our revised, scaled-back project. The principal changes to the Retreat House will be:
- Demolishing the existing retreatants wing and replacing it with a three-story updated and code-compliant wing, which will be reconstructed on the footprint of the existing retreatants wing. It will also be connected to the mansion at the ground and second floor levels to provide handicap access. The new retreatants wing will accommodate 38 retreatants, down from 40 in the existing retreatants wing. In addition, two suites, which had accommodated Jesuit priests in the existing retreatants wing, will not be included in the reconstructed retreatants wing; and
- Interior improvements and minor renovations to the mansion.
I look forward to welcoming you on the 20th.
(Signed)
Dennis Yesalonia S.J.
Associate Vice President
