I Had to put my Girl BLAZE to sleep this morning. She had a rough couple of weeks. She helped me through a rough couple of years. She was a sweetheart. She’s now with my son and father.
I brought her to the GMG headquarters a few years ago. She almost took down GMG that day. I was so proud of her! 🙂

What is New England Sports Park? Where do we start?
We are best known the steepest, fastest snow tubing hill in New England in the winter.

I am a huge fan of Scavenger Hunts…just saying. So, this sounds like a ton of fun! I’ve been meaning do one of the Watson Adventures Scavenger Hunts for some time now. I’m not going to lie, the outdoor ones around Boston are more my cup of tea, but this sounds great….especially if you have kids who can’t get enough of the Museum of Science!

Ok. So this is a bit premature, but if you want to score tickets, you need to act now. The new Cabot in Beverly is such a fantastic venue and they have opened with a bang offering a wonderfully diverse array of shows. If you’ve been wanting to take your kids to a concert, but haven’t scored tix to Taylor Swift, One Direction, or Gosh Only Knows Who Else….or if you’re not sure that they’re old enough for such an event…next weekend’s Alastair Moock concert may just be the ticket you’ve been looking for. A sweeter, simpler concert for young music fans, for sure!

Nearly twenty years into his performing career, 2014 Grammy-nominated musician Alastair Moock has managed to carve out a unique niche for himself: He is a songwriter committed to celebrating the roots of American music while knocking down the walls between different audiences, genres and musical traditions. Today, his audiences range from adults all the way down to preschoolers, and he plays everything from nightclubs to theaters to schoolrooms. Like his boyhood hero, Woody Guthrie, Moock believes in the power of music to reach all people — young and old, far and wide, for all occasions.
But it is Moock’s newest album, Singing Our Way Through: Songs for the World’s Bravest Kids, which is nearest and dearest to his heart. In July of 2012, one of Alastair’s daughter’s was diagnosed with leukemia. The Singing Our Way Through project began when they started writing songs together in the hospital. Over the next several months, Moock continued to write and collect songs that reflected his family’s experiences – the love, the pride, the surprising amount of joy, and some of the more difficult parts too.
Moock decided he wanted to record an album for other families traveling similar paths. With the help of an amazing fundraising campaign and the musical talents of friends including co-producer Anand Nayak, Chris Smither, Aoife O’Donovan, Rani Arbo, Mark Erelli, The Okee Dokee Brothers, and (fellow 2014 Grammy nominee) Elizabeth Mitchell, Moock released Singing Our Way Through in July, 2013. Since then, more than 2,500 albums have been distributed to hospitals, cancer organizations and patient families around the country.

To know all the places where you are losing heat so you can take steps to correct those things. If you want to have insulation work done or weather sealing to have Mass Save pay for 75% of THAT. To know that you can elect to have any of it done or not and to know you are already paying for it on your electric bill in the line item “Energy Efficiency Charge” and then not take advantage of it. You would have to say to yourself “That person is crazy to not want to do this.”
I was blown away with what my mom got, how interesting it was and how much I learned about energy savings and teh construction of my mom’s house.

They are going to replace and install 9 of them for a total savings of $1062. and that is not to mention any of the monthly savings she will receive from not having to go around and turn down the thermostats herself every day. Yes, my good friends, it’s time to party! This Friday Night at DOG BAR @ 9pm is the place and time. Please come out and support our local artist POCKET TANYA, and have a blast at a live showcase performance and JUNKIE POP music video world premiere. Filmed inside the landmark locations of EMPIRE DEPARTMENT STORE and THE DOG BAR, this puppy is all Gloucester through and through! The video was conceived on the fly, and shot in a matter of a couple of hours. It was done all hand held, and just me and Paul, no other crew. This is a true run-n-gun production. Pocket Tanya is an amazing performer-singer-songwriter that will entertain the shit out of you! Also on the ticket is Megan McKenzie, a soulful and powerful vocalist that you won’t want to miss. Then to hold it all together is the pumpkin’ DJ stylings of SUPA UGLY. This morning just prior to my scheduled meeting with the Mayor, I learned from my contact at the Mariposa Company, that the “String of Pearls Sticky Note Desktop Holder” is classified as retired collection pieces, but the companies warehouse had one available and had been processed for me to pick up. Love dealing with the Mariposa folks, as always, they totally came through on short notice. I personally would like to thank Laura Makin and the Mariposa Staff for their assistance this morning,and for the retired “String of Pearls “ collection piece they generously gifted to our City of Gloucester’s New Mayor Sefatia Giambanco Romeo Theken!

Wanna go for a walk in Burnham Field, this is what you get (see poop shoe pic below). I want to thank all the lazy inconsiderate people who let their dogs take dumps all along the new paths and don’t bother picking it up. The walkways are literally littered with dog feces. This is a disgrace and makes one wonder if people don’t respect the places where they live do they respect anything.

Candlemas Celebration at St. Johns Episcopal Church
Children’s Candlemas Celebration at St. John’s
Interested in what’s happening in the children and youth program at St. John’s?
St. John’s Episcopal Church school will be offering workshops related to Candlemas. For two Sundays, (February 1st and February 8th) all children are invited to take part in this celebration by learning how to make beeswax candles and participate in the feast of the Presentation of the Lord at the Temple (40 days after his birth). The first Sunday (10:15 – 11:15am), participants will learn the story of Simeon and Anna (Luke 2:22 – 40) as they make their candles. The following Sunday (10:15 – 11:15am), children will complete their candles; learn the song of Simeon and help lead the Procession of Candlemas with their lighted candles, as part of the church service. The procession will end with the children arriving in the church, joining their parents. This is a two-session commitment celebrating Candlemas and a great way to check out the children’s program at St. John’s. Just show up and enjoy this celebration!
All children ages 3- 18 (of any denomination) are invited to participate and celebrate.
