A Prayer for Boston:
Almighty God, who made the green grass on the Fenway, the blue waters of Dorchester Bay and the tan sands on the Cape, we have a simple prayer: Enough with the snow already. Whatever mysterious point you’re making about endurance, or patience or your own awesome power, we get it: we’ve endured, we’re plenty patient and we get that you can do the snow thing. And we know that you know the old joke (since you know everything) about how if the Pilgrims landed in Florida first this part of the country would never have been settled, ha ha, but we love it here. We love the spring, especially on Boston Common. We love the Fall, especially in the suburbs. And we love the summer, especially on Cape Cod, on Cape Anne and on the South Shore. We love all those beautiful parts of your world. But we’ve had it with the snow. I mean, have you looked out my window? So we’d like to ask you to stop sending us the snow. And, just to be clear, when we say snow we also mean freezing rain, sleet, black ice, any kind of flurries and that new creation of yours thundersnow. We promise we’ll be good during Lent, we’ll be kind to one another, and won’t ask for another thing…at least until the Red Sox start to play. Amen.

Gloucester Harbor Exquisite Sunrise
Yesterday morning’s exquisite sunrise from Pirate’s Lane.
F/V Freemantle Doctor Heading Out
The sun’s light at daybreak coming up over the harbor after the snowstorm lent a golden glow to all. I find our neighborhood–the people, the architecture, the boats, the sweet little robins–to be a never ending source of inspiration. See panoramic view of Smith’s Cove sunrise, posted yesterday.

Live From J. Pace & Sons

My friend Mauro always takes good care of me while shopping at J.Pace & Sons! Today I stopped by to pick up supplies for Saturdays ” Pasta Making Festivities.” I was happy to see their supply of my favorite imported dried oregano was replenished after shopping there last week and disappointed to learn they were sold out! Thank You Mauro for holding some aside for me this week. It will be put to good use this weekend!

It’s all About The St. Joseph Pasta this weekend!
Yesterday I picked up an extra hand crank pasta machine at Marshalls for only $24.99! There was no way I was leaving the store with that fabulous bargain in hand! One can never have enough pasta machine when annually making this amount of Sista Felicia’s St Joseph Semolina Pasta!
The cutting mechanisms on this Norpro Pasta Machine appears to be sharp enough to cut clean edges…I’ll keep you all posted during the live Stream broadcast how it preforms throughout the day!
St. Barry’s Drying Rack In Use
For Sista Felicia’s Homemade St. Joseph Semolina Pasta Recipe… click recipe video link below, filmed and produced by Giani Gallo from Gallo Productions.
Every Sicilian family makes their homemade St. Joseph Pasta slightly different. Some use eggs, some use white flour, some use semolina, and others use a combination of both. The combination of ingredients and the pasta’s thickness really determines both the taste, and texture of the final traditional pasta dish. The St. Joseph “Goranza” is traditionally made with Cauliflower, fava beans, chick peas, and fennel frauns. Some Sicilian families add several kinds of beans and some add the stalks and bulb of the anise. Like all Italian and Sicilian recipes ….each family has their own twist. Many make this pasta extremely thick and heavy, similar to the texture of wall paper paste, I do not. Over the years I have developed this pasta recipe and mastered the technique of making it. If you’re looking for a pasta recipe that’s tender, light, and delicious, my Sista Felicia’s Semolina Pasta is for you! Even The Mayor of Gloucester “Sefatia Giambanco Romeo Theken” gives it a two thumbs up, and looks forward to taking a 5 lb. bag home each year.
This Saturday we will be live streaming, Patsa Making Day! Preparations for the feast are in full swing at this time. My rosary ladies, close friends and family are geared up to gather in my kitchen for this weekend’s pasta event! On Saturday, all 130 lbs. of semolina pasta will be hand crafted, and set to dry on a large drying rack, creatively constructed by my husband St. Barry! The hand crafted pasta will be served with our families “Goranza” Recipe passed down by my Uncle Michele and Aunt Vincie Millitiello. Our traditional “Goranza,” in english,“ sauce,” made with fava beans, cauliflower, chick peas, and fresh fennel furan, will be served on March nineteenth the official Feast Day Of St. Joseph. The large pots of “Goranza will rest side by side with a large pot of “Sunday Sugu” minus the meat ingredients, for those who have not yet acquired a taste or appreciations for the unique flovor of this pasta dish, but would still like to enjoy the hand crafted and blessed pasta. . Growing up I can vividly remember a long line of people waiting with containers in hand during my Uncle Mike and Aunt Vincie’s St. Joseph Feast Day. A line from her stove in the kitchen went through the house, out the front door and down the street 2 city blocks. People waited hours to get a potion of blessed pasta. For the past few years I decided to take that tradition one step further, and send my family and guest home with a bag of dried pasta, and small container of St. Joseph Goranza, so they can prepare and enjoy it one more time at home. It has become the grand finally of our feast day. Everyone waits in line for their opportunity to digs into the giant containers of stored pasta. Each fills a plastic bag up with homemade dried pasta, and heads to the kitchen to pick up their container of Goranza by the stove top. This new tradition is another “Gift Of Gold” that I hope to pass on to the next generation!
Our Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken and Governor Charlie Baker
My friend Sefatia (Romeo Theken), Mayor of Gloucester, and Charlie (Baker), Governor of Massachusetts. The Governor is quite tall (6’6″), and is more handsome in person than on TV. They’re posed in front of the Grand Staircase at the State House. I prefer not to shoot with a flash, but probably should have here for better sharpness. Sefatia wants a copy of this photo, which I’ve sent.

Electricity Update: Captain Pete Mondello’s Energy Efficiency Breakdown and Annual Savings
So Captain Pete just had his energy efficiency evaluation at his house. You know the one’s I’ve been talking about since November? When you get yours done they print out a report stating exactly what you get for free and how much you will save annually just by taking the free stuff they give you like the LED lightbulbs and energy power strips and electronically controlled thermostats.
SIGN UP FOR THE FREE STUFF HERE-
So you can see from his report that he got 14 bulbs free, 2 electronic Honeywell thermostats installed free, 2 advanced 6 outlet smart powerstrips, all together valued at $363 and he paid $0. He was very happy this morning.
After all the free stuff they gave him they worked up a recommendation sheet of things that he could get 75% paid for through mass save and only have to pay 25% of teh cost of the work and materials. So the recommendations of insulation and other work was valued at $2024 worth of work of which there are Government subsidies that Next Step completely handles all the paperwork for you and his portion of all that work would end up costing him $379 out of pocket. If he takes advantage of the incentives and gets the work done and pays the $379 he can expect a further savings of $260 per year which is a return on investment which gets paid back in 1.4 years. after that every year going forward all of that money stays in his pocket. Absolute, without question, NO BRAINER CITY! When banks are offering less than 3% interest rates and you can get that kind of return on your money you’d have to be an absolute fool not to take advantage.
Image below is Captain Pete’s chart of free Energy Efficient Measures that he got just for signing up and having them come out to install the items.

More Coyotes On Eastern Point Photos From Tom Janis #GloucesterMA
Joey,
Hi. I appreciate Good Morning Gloucester!
Here are 4 coyotes walking through my backyard (Brace Cove in the distance) just now. I wonder how they’re surviving.
Best,
Tom Janis
I took this with my iPhone so not great quality, but here are 4 coyotes walking through my backyard just now (Brace Cove behind).
Enjoy Good Morning Gloucester! Thanks.
Tom Janis
Joey,
Hi! Here they are again this morning. All four were on the rock, in the sun, but it took too long for my phone to power on, but I was able to catch the last one crossing the rock. I’m pretty sure I know where their den is now (and they really worry me because I have a dog). I see them every day!
Best,
Tom Janis
