Cormorant

I’ve been learning little by little about light when taking pictures.  To be perfectly honest 90 percent of the pictures I take are with the automatic settings from the camera.   At one point I thought you could never get enough light and that ideally you wanted your subjects flooded with bright sunshine.

If I took this shot in bright sunshine you never would have seen the ruffles of the feathers.  The automatic settings would have adjusted the shutter speed and it would have been all black.  Because it was dark and overcast it came like this-

Tomorrow Saturday: Convenient Medicine Disposal!

medsThe Gloucester Democratic City Committee, though its Public Service Committee, is publicizing and supporting the City of Gloucester’s Medications Disposal Program.  Specifically, several of us will help collect outdated and used medications this Saturday, June 13, from 10 to 12, at the Rose Baker Senior Center Parking Lot.  The Center is located at 6 Manuel F. Lewis Street in downtown Gloucester.

As you may know, keeping unused medications on hand is a public health risk, especially if they’re found by children and young people.  Flushing medications down the toilet is bad for both public health and the environment.

Please check your own medicine cabinet for old medications, both prescription and over-the-counter items.  Vitamins, veterinary medications, narcotics, pills, and liquids will also be accepted.  This material will be appropriately destroyed by the Gloucester Police Department.  (Other items – such as syringes, needles, thermometers, IV bags, personal care products, empty containers, and the like – will not be accepted.)

Please also pass the word to friends and neighbors.  We hope to see you Saturday morning!  Thank you.

Chair, GDCC Public Service Committee

Revenge is sweet!

www

Uh…Sir Blog-a-lot is indeed in trouble. Nothing is quite like the revenge of a woman done wrong! And his sidekicks were right there with him! No warnings, no tip-offs, harumph! Well… I’ll get you, my pretty, and your little dogs too!

Thank you, Joey and Fellow Bloggers!

Sir Blog-a-lot organized a Blogapalooza for last night at  Cape Ann Brewing. It was a great way to meet all of those who regularly contribute to GMG’s success, many who have their own blogs. AND another birthday celebration. This time mixed with a little beer, cake, and a whole lot of crude, rude fun! Thanks to you all! Maybe birthdays are okay after all! 🙂 Joey will have more info on last night’s get-together soon, I’m sure!

Lost Cat Frankie- Grant Circle Area

Hi Joey…i am a huge fan of GOOD MORNING GLOUCESTER and i wonder if by any chance you’d be willing to do a post about our missing cat Frank?! He went missing yesterday from our house on Ashland Place (near Grant Circle). I’m in a tizzy! He is a three year old neutered male housecat. Half Siamese/Half Calico. Check out my blog for a post (i’m about to do it…haven’t yet…it will be there by 1:15 Today/tuesday) that will contain all the relevent information! We have no kids. Our dogs and cats are our babies! We are having work done on our house and he escaped. We are offering a reward.www.capeanndiaries.blogspot.com
If you can send out a message via your blog i’d be sooooo appreciative.
All best,
Mary Aarons

Where Zat Answer

HSJay Albert knew the answer to this, but said he’d let someone else get it. So…Pat answered “at the launching ramp behind the high school” which, of course, is the right answer. Congratulations, Pat! Next week’s gotta be harder!

iPhone Silliness

I got a gel cover for the phone and it comes with these clear plastic sheets to protect the screen. There are little numbers in the upper corners with no instructions. I figure I can do this. Wrong! Air bubbles and dust on the now repositioned protector. When I got home, I googled and got a video explaining the whole thing. If it’s that hard to do, how am I ever going to figure out how to shut off the alarm!!??
