Ginormous Loss For City- Jason Grow
I’m unbelievably saddened by the loss of good egg Jason Grow on the Council.
Jason is a guy that looked at each issue and really researched it, gave all sides consideration and then made a decision. He didn’t go into every vote with a preconceived notion of what way he would vote. A great mind and a caring individual, losing Jason on the Council is a HUGE LOSS.
I’m not even sure if Jason reads GMG but my words to him would be to enjoy the time with his family and I appreciate all the work he has done for the betterment of our community.

GMG Power Rankings #10
She might be a little nuts, but you can’t deny how devoted our number 10 ranked GMGer is.
No one puts the energy and effort into the comment section as Elaine Marie Sabotka AKA Lobster Lady.
Every day she shows up and contributes and if anyone knows me, they know I love the people that always check in.
She also submits photos from time to time and stops down the dock when she’s in town.

Chickity Check It!- New Blog- Get Fit Gloucester
From Cathy-
I am a 57 year old woman who has never felt more healthy and fit in my entire life. Five years ago, at 52, I weighed about 80 lbs. more than I do now. I felt much older, with stiff joints and back aches and no energy. And don’t even ask about clothes!
I did not “go on a diet,” I did not count calories or carbs. I made lifestyle changes, a little at a time. I tried to eat healthier and move more. You can do this, too. You can make changes to look, and more importantly, feel healthier and fit. You don’t have to be overweight to be unfit. You will feel a difference in strength, energy, stamina and flexibility. I’m talking to you, men, too!
I can tell you how I did it. Not everything I do will be right for you. Through posts about my progress; tips and ideas about nutrition and exercise; links to sites I like and find helpful, I hope to inspire others to get fit and healthy and encourage a community of support and an exchange of ideas. And have a little fun on the way! Much of our information will be about local Cape Ann sites – walking and bike routes, gyms, types of exercise, yoga studios, good buys on healthy food – but Guests and commenters from anywhere are welcome as well.
Okay, I know you all want to know. Right now I’m wearing a pair of Levis – size 8. A comfortable size 8!
Twenty year old daughter: “Mom, why are you wearing my clothes?”
Mom: “Because I can!”

Fishermen’s Wives sets up fund for lost sternman
By Richard Gaines
Staff Writer
The Gloucester Fishermen’s Wives Association has announced the organization for contributions to the family of lobsterman Jaime Ortiz, 43, who was lost Tuesday while working as sternman for Dean Mould on his boat.
A native of Honduras, Ortiz came to Gloucester from New York City last summer to fish.
Living in the Action Inc. homeless shelter, Ortiz was sending money home to his wife and five children.
Contributions may be sent to:

GMG Power Rankings #8

Rob Hall/Beth Swan
The couple of Beth Swan and Rob Hall make up the #8 slot in the GMG Power Rankings.
Beth is responsible for the official GMG Logo, winning the contest we ran way back when. That logo has been used in many campaigns, the Russo Family Fundraiser, Many ads, Posters, Banners and etched coffee mugs.
Along with that, Rob and Beth are frequent commenters in the GMG community.
Very community oriented the graphic design and computer whiz team of Rob and Beth are currently holding down the #8 position in the GMG Power Rankings.

What can I say about Kat Valentine but how much I appreciate all of her generous help.
Kat is one of those people who quietly and without asking for recognition does so much for our community as a whole but for the GMG Power Rankings I’ll speak to her specific contributions to Good Morning Gloucester.
Every time we are doing something that could benefit the Art community I bang out a quick email to Kat and BOOM she includes our message in the seARTS newsletter and on her site. Need a graphic for the Russo Family Fundraiser? -BOOM, done! Active in the commenting section? Hell yeah. Participate in the GMG Logo Contest? Yep that too.
Every now and again I’ll call to check in on Kat and we always have fantastic spirited conversations about blogging or the local art scene or stupid people, lol. I really enjoy those conversations BTW Kat. She’s just a good egg, take it from me. Lucky #7- Kat Valentine check out her blog here

GMG Power Rankings #6
Number 6 in the GMG Power rankings is Paulie Frontiero.
Paulie is the resident funny guy in the comment section. Always breaking balls, but in a good way. Paulie is a part of GMG in many ways.
He came through with the printing of the shirts for the Russo Family fundraiser, he contributes photos from events and scenes on the waterfront, and he’s a daily contributor in the comment section.
I can’t tell you enough how much I enjoy reading comments. It lets us know you’re out there and watching what we do. That feedback drives us to try to get better and better.

GMG Power Rankings #5
Laurie Lufkin pulls down the number 5 spot in the GMG Power Rankings. Laurie is GMG’s resident chef and comes through with her weekly recipe’s and occasional video.
Laurie is very community oriented and is filling a niche that I obviously couldn’t teh cooking niche. As much as I love food, cooking or describing how to cook is not one of my strong suits. She brings positive energy which is essential if you want to be a contributor on GMG and even when I try to get her to talk smack to hype the Seafood Throwdowns, she refuses because she’s such a good egg, lol.
I’m hoping to get Laurie to branch out a little more and be our voice from Essex, reporting on happenings in the Essex community.

Jimmy T and Joey Ciolino Take The Race Dories Across The Harbor To Take them Out For The Winter
Every year the race dories get taken out of the water and stored in a tent up on Pond Road. They need to be rowed across from Saint Peter’s Park, put on trailers, and then brought up to Pond Road where they will be pressure washed and put away til the spring.
Here are a couple of videos that FOB Frank Ciolino took of the day-

GMG Power Rankings #4
As I said yesterday 3-5 is very difficult to peg in the GMG Power Rankings because on any given day the three contributors could be in a different spot.
The number four spot goes to someone who has been with the blog for a long while and his contributions have been widely varied but ever constant.
Frank Ciolino has been a long time FOB (friend of the blog) and he always, ALWAYS can be counted on. Frank is a friend that would do anything for you. The latest batch of Homie Stickers-Frank. Building a frame for the backdrop of the GMG curtain- Frank. Etched Glass GMG mugs-Frank. Helping clean up after the Block Party and organize the media presentation-Frank. Mkae GMG Banners- Frank. Take my camera to cover an event when I can’t get away from work-Frank.
His contributions are countless not to mention we love his company when he stops down with son Joey and daughter Mikayla at the dock. If you’re going to war and need to count on someone to come through for you, Frank’s the guy you want in that foxhole with you.
Much thanks to Franko and family, your #4 in the GMG Power Rankings
