The Everly Sisters
An acoustic female duet, one a fingerstyle guitarist the other a Patsy Cline enthusiast, both harmonizing to the songs of the lengendary vocalists of the 60’s era, especially a well studied repertoire of Phil & Don Everly hits.  Their acoustic style is intriguing and relaxing, bringing a refreshing new sound to many classic hits from the 60’s to the 80’s.  Both blues singers at heart, they expand their repetoire to also include folk, soft rock, oldies the Beatles and especially the Everly Borthers

Help Celebrate the release of the Bandit Kings New Album ~ Live From Los Angeles

Gloucester’s own Bandit Kings have new live CD to celebrate about. If you feel like going over the bridge I am sure they would love to have you come and join them. This has to be one of the most liveliest bands that I have ever seen. Entertainment from the get go. They have some new songs that I love plus I got to here them do a great cover by The B 52″ Roam if you want to. Then Dan King blew my mind with “Shake your hips baby”  Written and sung by Slim Harpo. It is a very rare occasion that there is not someone on the floor dancing to all these songs they put out. Just sitting there watching AnnMarie and Renee on stage is an invitation in itself.

Thursday Night Blues Jam @ The Rhumb Line to host Diane Blue

Thursday – March 24th – 9:00 to 12:00 ~ Dave Sag’s Blues Party with Diane Blue

Some words from Dave himself,

Well, it was nice to have a week off, but, screw that; let’s get back to work. Jobs! That’s what we musicians need. Without this gig I’d have 10 less dollars a week to squander on foolishness, such as food.  Hope I don’t break a string.
I’ve been bending over backwards (and falling down a lot) to bring you the finest in sustainable egologically sound sound. No misprint, there. Thanx for your continual support. Let’s see what we have for you this time around….
Hmmm, by Jove, I think we got her. Yes, it’s a Done deal: After a long hiatus, let’s welcome back Ms. Diane Blue, Demiurge and Octomom of the Blues. Possibly my favorite frontperson, and a killer harmonicat, to boot. Sings like an angel, walks and talks, too. She’ll be dragging in her entire repertoire for your musical consideration. Make ya wanna dance. Me, I’m leaving the cane home , but I’m bringing my crozier!
Rounding off the ensemble we have the apoplectic Mr. John Hyde, jazz snob and loving husband, on keyboards and demented tri-tones. He just got his beret blocked…somebody  help me. We’re gonna have a shoe-tying contest at first break. Of course Greg T. and myself will be there. Behind the closed curtains will be  Mr. Roger Brocklebank, on skins and concussion, eating his way thru the entire menu. This’ll be a fun time. Wipe your chin and come on down!
On other fronts, I’ve been looking to update and enlarge my email list. Many of the addresses I have don’t work anymore. So, if you think of it, send me updated addresses, or names of friends who might like these mumbly missives. I don’t do FaceBook: I have enough friends who don’t need me to help them waste their time. And thanks to Good Morning Gloucester for printing my weeny rants. See Ya!

Chantey Night Has Been Moved To Tuesdays At Cape Ann Brewing

Janet Young writes-

Hi, Joey—
An update for your readers:  Chantey Night, an open Tuesday night sing featuring members of Three Sheets to the Wind, Knockabout, and other music groups from the North Shore and the Boston area, has moved from the now-closed Cameron’s to the Cape Ann Brewing Company.   The singing begins at 8:30 every Tuesday night.
Thank you,
Janet Young

For all the schooner heads this is quite a thing to see.  If you have someone coming into town and want to hear and see something very different it can be pretty cool.

Be warned though- don’t go planning a meeting or meet-up where you think you’re going to be able to carry on a conversation while they are singing.  Best to plan it for a different night at Cape Ann Brewing.
