Under $8 for this plate of chicken marsala, bread and a side salad. Great deal.
I have no idea why it had been such a long time since I’d been into Espresso but I can assure you I’ll be getting lunch there a whole lot more.

I haven’t eaten at Espresso in forever. The lunch menu is ridiculously reasonable. Pics of the menu will be forthcoming.

Chamber’s Spring Fling
Cape Ann Chamber Businesswomen will host this year’s Spring Fling on Tuesday, May 5, 5 to 7:30 p.m., at Latitude 43, 25 Rogers St. Terri Trespicio, senior editor at Martha Stewart’s “Body & Soul” magazine, will present “Take Back the Reins: Simple and Surprising Ways to Stay Balanced and Whole When Times Are Tough.” Trespicio also hosts a daily radio program called “Whole Living.” In collaboration with seArts Wearable Arts group, attendees will have an opportunity to wear — and possibly buy — accessories made by local artists. Sponsored by Cape Ann Savings Bank Trust Department, Rockport National Bank and TD Banknorth, the event will feature a Cinco de Mayo supper of quesadillas, nachos and salads. Cost is $25 per person. Spaghetti dinner
A spaghetti dinner fundraiser to benefit the Gloucester High School girls softball program will take place Tuesday, May 5, 5 to 7 p.m., at The Fish Shack restaurant in Rockport. Cost is $8 for adults, $5 for children and seniors, with a $25 family cap. For more information, call Anthony Saputo at 978-283-6970.

West End Sweets had its grand opening yesterday with balloons, Wally, and of course, ice-cream! What a fun time. Tons of kids and parents. Jerry Ciolino, Steve Maniaci, and their crew did an outstanding job of make their first weekend a huge success. More photos to come during the week! —Sharon

West End Sweets will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. The store’s first day of business will be on Friday, May 1 and the grand opening, featuring Wally the Green Monster, will be on Sunday, May 3, from 2-4 p.m.
West End Sweets will offer ice cream, slush, sundaes, Seine Boat floats, flurries, banana splits, frappes, freezes, protein shakes, fruit smoothies, spumoni, espresso, coffee, hot dogs, old fashioned candy and ice cream cannolis.
Our signature item is the Storm where customers can choose one of our five Storm Station creations that include ice cream and mix-ins. West End Sweets offers more than 40 mix-ins as well as more than 20 combined ice cream and frozen yogurt ice cream flavors.
The highlight of the Grand Opening weekend is Sunday, May 3, from 2-4 p.m. as Wally the Green Monster from the Boston Red Sox will meet and greet the customers. The first 100 children to visit Wally will get a Mascot Photo Card.
Any customer who purchases an ice cream that day will also be entered into a raffle where the winner will receive two tickets to the sold out Mother’s Day game between the Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays. The drawing will be held at 6 p.m.
