Hi Joey,
Thursday was a ‘wicked’ day at GMR. Dave Marciano of Wicked Tuna fame had his Hard Merchandise go back in the water after Donny King did some maintenance on her. Stephen Coady, pipe ever ready, was busy working on his Boston Pilot, who is up on the railway. Restoration work continues on the Phyllis A. The Francesca & Carlo was looking so cute next to the Caterina G, and Gret Webster’s Stone Horse got a new name.

Hey Joey,
I was hanging out at the Corliss landing during low tide one evening and this big, bass sound came booming across the water. Loud, rap music…gang style. These 3 men went past and the one in the center of the image and I proceeded to have a gun contest. Yes, we were flexing our muscles. Ha ha ha These are the best kind of gangs, it was a fun memory…great night.

Thanks for Good Morning Gloucester.
Hope you like the attached, taken on our deck adjacent to Annisquam River, Gloucester, during the morning fog of Monday, August 4, 2014.

Hi Joey thought I would share some pics from the Sunset Music cruise on July 31st. It was my husband’s and my 21st wedding anniversary…We had a great time listening to Fly Amero and Alan Estes!
Hi Joey,
I was visiting in West Gloucester Thursday afternoon, and found there was a different type of beauty at low tide.
I thought I’d share a few of my photos.

In similar fashion to the tournament’s opening day, Day #2 of this year’s Bluefin Blowout also ended with two large Bluefin Tuna being landed. The Osprey and the Tonno (Italian for tuna) both brought fish to the dock.
This year’s event was fantastic and it is safe to say, with such enthusiasm from organizers, participants, vendors, and spectators, it is only going to get better. I’m already looking forward to next year. This tournament provides a new take on the already rich summer schedule that Cape Ann offers and I hope it continues for years to come!
In all, 53 boats were entered and four scored some pretty phenomenal bluefin tuna!
The Miss Fern’s fish weighed in at 805 pounds
Tuna.com tipped the charts with a 913 pounder
The Osprey’s fish showed 497 on the scale
and a 588 pound fish was brought in by The Tonno
Check out the event’s website for updated information.
Supremes/Art Haven Mural Completed!
Hey Joey.
Some shots of long-time Cape Ann artist Rob (now down from Maine and his studio at Redbones in Someville) and folks/kids from Art Haven (Sophie with her mermaid) redoing the Supreme’s mural on Chestnut Street…
Best, Chris Rogers.

Updated photos of the Schooner Adventure From Mary Barker
Hi Joey,
The Adventure’s crew and volunteers continue to be hard at work. This past week they were doing a lot of scraping and painting and sharpening scrapers on deck. The crews bunks, storage areas and head in the fo’c’s’le are nearing completion and prep work in the galley area initiated. Small projects in the engine room continue. The float is being worked on as well. This week the Adventure had plenty of company with the Harvey Gamage, Lady Maryland, and Roseway docked along side. How wonderful to walk down the pier to the sight of 4 sets of spars. Never a dull moment.

As always, this is a legitimate tuna tournament, with action not to be missed.
In fact, it is “New England’s Premier Giant Bluefin Tuna Tournament” and it does not disappoint.
Great work done by the organizers, the sponsors, the boat crews, and everyone else involved.
A great chance to peak inside what this side of the fishing industry can be like!
The crowd was excited, the competition was on…yet friendly, the Orion was up to their usual antics all “Funky Red Barn” style, and the fish were…well, BIG.
A heartfelt moment of silence for past “Weigh Master”, Mark Godfried (whom I worked for and loved), was a really nice touch.
To kick-off this year’s tournament, Day #1 ended with The Miss Fern bringing in a fish that weighed 805 pounds. It was immediately followed by Tuna.com’s 913 pounder. Yikes!
Congratulations to all! Check out tournament info here
Jimmy Keys visits friends in Gloucester on his way to his high energy entertainment show.
Every Thursday I look forward to this great Farmers’ Market.
Young and Older we all had a fun festive time at the annual fair!
As a season ticket holder for the Harbor Shuttle, I use the shuttle to go to Rocky Neck and or just ride on a hot day. It also gives me an opportunity to meet people visiting Gloucester, and even local folks. I met my neighbors for the first time, even met the daughter of the landlady that we rented from when we came to the USA, on the shuttle. Below are only some of the many people I have met.
Hey Joey,
The 2014 Rhumbline Striper Tournament was completed yesterday and attached are some photos of the winners and Fred handing out prizes. It was a slow day of fishing with many of the “heavy hitters” being shutout and not even weighing in a fish, but everyone always has a blast at the Rhumbline and the food and festivities weren’t suppressed at all by a little rain. Of course Fred (as always) had a great bunch of raffle prizes and kept the crowd entertained.
Here are your winners:
1st Place – Herb White – 30.66 pounds
2nd Place – Roger Brisson – 22.90 pounds
3rd Place – Domenic SanFilippo – 14.72 pounds
Hope everyone comes out again next year!
Thanks,
Matt
Concert by the Sea at Beauport , at the Sleeper-McCann House, in the garden overlooking Gloucester Harbor. Listened to great music by Henry Allen and the New Swingers, watching the sunset and schooners passing by, what a great setting.
