The Singing Seniors, a singing class taught by Jorgelina Zeoli (“Jayzee”) at the Rose Baker Senior Center in Gloucester, bring Christmas music to the residents at the Girdler House in Beverly. (December 20, 2013)


“Jayzee”, a free lance musician, inspirational author and Tai Chi instructor, is looking for funding in order to continue bringing the joy of the Singing Seniors into the community. She can be contacted atjayzee.miracles@gmail.com.

Hi Joey,

After being cooped up for the storm, I headed out to Cranes Beach check out the dunes and the surf.   

The snow on the dunes was laced with a marbling of sand which made for some quite interesting patterns.

Even the day after the storm ended, there was still a bit of surf, but the seagulls seemed to take it all in stride.

Although he founded the widely admired Omega Vector Foundation in 1978 there is little biographical information available about Addair, ostensibly because he did not want the work of the Phoenix, Arizona-based foundation to be about him, but rather about finding ways to help people discover their potential. Since his passing graduate volunteers continue to lead weekend workshops using the Socratic method to encourage freedom from fear through self-examination. Unlike most similar self-improvement programs the workshops are still being presented free of charge.

Hi Joey,
Been thinking a lot about Mass & Gloucester / North Shore, since a holiday visit to our son & his family in NJ.  Part of that visit included several visits to NY city — or as the inhabitants like to call it, the Big Apple.
Nothing against anyone who lives in, has lived in, or loves NY ….. but ……. I remain firmly a New Englander — proud of Massachusetts, our people, who & what we are, what we do, & all that we stand for.
There IS ‘no place like home’.
In NY, people readily pushed past, over, & around anyone in their way, including small children. No one was friendly.
Plus, don’t even begin to tell me that Boston drivers are bad or discourteous drivers.  NY city wins that title, hands-down.
The visit was good, being with family.  However, the trips to downtown NY (not our 1st by any means), only served to remind us how much we love ‘home’.
In our opinion, we have it ‘all’ right here…. far & above anywhere.
The people of Mass, & especially our beloved North Shore, have no comparison.  They are ‘simply the best’, & so is Mass!

Hey Joey,
Happy New Year!  I snapped this photo today at the Roger William’s Zoo (AMAZING place fyi…open all year and 1/2 price in January + February).  Timing is everything.  I love the look on the non-defecating eagle’s face.  I could almost hear him saying, “Nice, really nice.  Way to represent.”     🙂

Frank McCall Lanes Cove Storm Video II

Hi Joey,

I took another walk to Lanes Cove after I finished my shoveling today. The water level was higher than yesterday’s high tide and the breakwater had quite a bit more splash-over. If you watch carefully, you will see water pouring through the breakwater as well. I could not stand in the same place where I took my video yesterday because that location was underwater!

The Open Door will offer additional food pantry hours

Hi Joey,

Could you help us get the word out to those who need to know? The storm this week as well as the holiday closing has had an impact on people’s ability to get to the food pantry. The Open Door will offer additional food pantry hours on Saturday, January 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to serve those who missed their appointments due to the holiday closing and storm conditions this week. People who need to use the food pantry should come to 28 Emerson Avenue in Gloucester between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 4.
