Get Your Dixie Funk Boogie On
Beverly, MA. M.E. Productions is excited to present The New Orleans Suspects with Little Feat’s Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett at the Larcom Theatre on Saturday, April 11th at 8pm. The Suspects are known as a NOLA supergroup, and Barrere & Tackett as multi instrumental jam pioneers. The night will culminate with a full set of the music of Little Feat. Tickets for this concert start at $35.
Music of the Big Easy. It’s as American as apple pie–and rock ‘n roll itself. It transcends boundaries, a freewheeling fusion of California rock, Dixie-inflected roots, and country-fried funk and boogie. For one night only, New Orleans Suspects will join forces with Paul Barrere and Fred Tackett of Little Feat. Don’t miss a rare and intimate show with the men who continue to bring you Little Feat(on an ‘ indefinite hiatus’), and a NOLA superband. Yep, we said it…superband.
The New Orleans Suspects formed in summer of 2011 in the wake of the breakup of The Radiators after 34 years. The band comprises some of the best, most highly respected players in New Orleans, including: Reggie Scanlan on bass (Radiators, Professor Longhair Band); Mean Willie Green on drums (Neville Bros. current drummer since 1981); Jeff Watkins (James Brown Band, Joss Stone Band) on saxophone; Jake Eckert on guitar/vocals (current member of The Dirty Dozen Brass Band); and CR Gruver on keyboards and vocals (Polytoxic, Outformation).
Paul Barrere plays a mean slide guitar, and sings lead and background vocals for Little Feat. He joined Little Feat for the band’s third album Dixie Chicken, and the rest is history with his guitar, vocals, and songwriting becoming an important part of the Little Feat sound. Fred Tackett plays guitar, trumpet, and mandolin for Little Feat. Hailing from Arkansas, Fred Tackett worked as a side man on many Little Feat albums before becoming a full member of the band for Let It Roll. Along with his fine guitar work, Fred’s mandolin and trumpet have become a featured part of the Little Feat sound. The duo first played together on the album ”Dixie Chicken” some thirty-five years ago.
The night will begin with a set from Barrere & Tackett, then The New Orleans Suspects will perform a full set of their own material. If that wasn’t enough, the two groups will join forces at the end of the night for a crowd pleasing set of Little Feat tunes.
“We have so many great shows on the North Shore…but we’re pretty excited about this one. It’s going to be FUN,” say Seth McNally of M.E. Productions. “If you like New Orleans music, or Little Feat, mark your calendar.”
Tickets to see NOLA Suspects with Barrere and Tackett are $30, $35, and $40 for premier seating. For tickets and more information visit www.larcomtheater.com or call 978-525-9093.

Are You at Risk for Colorectal Cancer?
March is Colon-Rectal Awareness Month! Too many of my friends, relatives, patients, and clients have been affected by this disease. March 5th was National Colon Cancer Day. That date came and went, but I could not let the month pass without bringing attention to the importance of Prevention, Screening, Early Detection of Colon-Rectal Cancer.
Prevent. Screen. Treat. Early Detection Saves Lives.
Cancer of the colon and/or rectum (colorectal cancer) can begin without symptoms, which is why early screening is important. Pre-cancerous and benign polyps can be removed before they become cancer. While routine screening often begins at 50, screening for those at higher risk may begin as early as 30’s. Having a family history of colorectal cancer puts you at higher risk.Increased Risk of Colorectal Cancer –
- Family history of colon and/or rectal cancer
- History of colorectal polyps
- Obesity
- Lack of Physical Activity
- Smoking
- High-Fat (Saturated/Trans-fat) Diet
- Alcohol Use

Should Boston Voters Should Decide Whether or Not The City Of Boston Host The Olympic Games?
From WGBH Greater Boston Report
Support for Boston’s Olympic bid has tripped out of the starter’s gate. Now, Boston 2024 says it won’t go forward without public support. Boston City Councilor Josh Zakim and United Independent Party chairman Evan Falchuk have proposed ballot questions to gauge just that, hoping to provide a place for voters to weigh in, maybe even have the final say.
Should people get a say, maybe the final say, on whether the Olympics come to Boston? And if so, should it just be Bostonians? Or the whole state? Let us know.
