$10 Lunch Special Jeff’s Variety Monday and Tuesday

We noticed Jeff’s Variety on Eastern Ave is offering a $10 lunch special on Mondays and Tuesdays. It includes any sandwich, chips and a bottle of water for $10. We decided to try it out and decided it’s one of the best deals in town! I ordered a roast beef sandwich and Jim got chicken salad. The sandwiches are large and delicious. We also noticed Jeff’s is selling cool t-shirts. You see some of them here. It’s a great stop at lunch time any day, but especially Monday and Tuesday.

**Maybe you were expecting a Margarita Monday post…..so was I. I just plain forgot last week…..**

On Saturday August 8th, Gloucester remembered the lost Fishermen in Gloucester’s history.  The Lily Jeanwas fresh in Gloucester memory.  The flowers in the Gloucester Harbor were peaceful.

Watching the behaviour of water birds is intriguing.

Gull taking flight at Brace Cove, dipping down while gaining speed. [May]
“Now that I have your attention, here’s why I have called you together….” [March]
“Can I help you? You’re interrupting my preening.” [July]
Common Eider escorting her ducklings out into the middle of Gloucester Harbor. [August]
Double-crested Cormorants have taken over the mooring float as a parade ground.
Final countdown on the launch pad.
We have ignition, and lift-off.
The ‘Cormorant’ spacecraft has cleared the tower.
And is off on a sub-orbital flight.
Common Terns surveying an active fishing ground off Raymond Beach.
Many terns are screeching while circling, and suddenly diving on targets at the surface.
This one came up empty-billed, but bounced back up off the water into flight.
While others came home with lunch.
The summer’s most photographed double rainbow, at the end of a day on the water.

Battle of Gloucester Service Held Yesterday

The Cape Ann Chapter of the DAR (NSDAR) held a commemorative service yesterday at the Fort Square playground to honor the 251st anniversary of the battle that was recently re-enacted at Stage Fort Park. Jim attended and took these photos so we could share them with you. Great job done by all including Lyla and Jude Worthley, David Dow, Judy Peterson and our very own FOB Janet Foster Marshall (Col. Foster). Thank you to the organizers for a lovely remembrance. Check out the plaque at the Fort if you haven’t already taken notice.
