Bird activity is finally picking up.

Little Blue Herons have taken over Niles Pond. The adults are slate-blue.
It’s good fishing for frogs (R) in the shallow water during the drought.
“I’m a juvenile Little Blue and I’m white until I’m a year old. I can stand on one leg all day.”
A dozen just on this part of the pond. Second from right has a frog.
And another frog.
“Any more down there before we run out?”
Turtle on rock. Little Blue lands. A couple of pecks and turtle retreats.
Herring Gull with every feather properly deployed, landing at Brace Cove.
Juvenile Cooper’s Hawk sneaking up on the bird feeders.
Female Ruby-throated Hummingbird landing to indulge.
“Wait a moment while I fluff up for the camera.”
Last week’s partial lunar eclipse, at about 60%.
A red cast glow at maximum 93% coverage, seen through a slightly hazy sky.
