Mayflour on the move on Cape Ann from Whistlestop #RockportMA to #EssexMA…

After five years on the block of Whistlestop mall in Rockport, Mayflour (and its bakery/coffee shop formerly known as Blume) is temporarily closed. Mayflour is reopening in 162 Main Street, Essex come Spring 2023, just perfect timing for new beginnings. How will they build out and design their new space?

Isn’t it ironic that the wood stirrers at the Capital One Cafe Which tout “Earth Day Every Day” Are wrapped In Unnecessary Wasteful Paper?

What’s coming to 177 Main Street? #GloucesterMA

Jan. 10, 2023.

Before spring, DPW is managing a gas work project on Main Street between Duncan and Hancock Streets.

A temporary staging site has been set up on I4,C2 (65 Rogers St). Street signs alert drivers on Main. This job is by National Grid that has a subcontractor, Neuco.

Public Works is heavily involved in all aspects of any utility work in the city and “stays tight with projects every step of the way.”

Pan Fried Sole

The pan fried sole at the Gloucester House is one of my favorite dishes on Cape Ann. They’ll be closing for a few weeks for some renovations so you should get yourself into that back dining room:bar while you can.

Well Done, Mother Nature!

We were reminded what a masterful job Mother Nature does in protecting its creatures on a trip north to Salisbury Beach Reservation and Parker River Refuge this week. This hawk was brilliantly hidden in the grasses, the coloring so well blended that only its movements gave it away. The Barred Owl at Parker River could have been part of the tree it was resting in. We surely would have missed it without the help of other photographers and sharp eyed fans. A good reminder to be aware that we are surrounded by things we cannot see unless we really look.
