This year, the sales tax holiday in Massachusetts will be taking place on Saturday, Aug. 13, and Sunday, Aug. 14. Though gas and food won’t be part of the items that qualify as part of the sales tax holiday, there are plenty of retail items you can scoop up and get a great deal on. If you’re thinking about purchasing new furniture, computers/electronic devices, clothing, bedding, tools, lawn/yard items, home theater, books, and more, you may want to plan on buying some of these items on the sales tax holiday weekend in Massachusetts. It’s worth noting that according to mass.gov, sales tax will be exempt on eligible retail items for personal use and those items must be $2,500 or less.

For those of you who haven’t seen it, here is a quick video of just about 1/2 of the scene at the backside of Wingaersheek Beach. Click on this post to see more. I started filming half way down the beach unfortunately. Those who have spent a day there by boat know it well. The constant shifting of lines and anchors, the battle for the beach, the shifting tides and sometimes fast currents. If, however, you catch a day when the crowds are more quiet…it can be a pretty perfect way to spend a day! This particular Saturday, we decided to avoid it all for a more peaceful place just a little ways away.
You probably have heard that the temporary Rt 133 bridge in Essex has opened. Although a bit narrow, it appears to be working to keep traffic moving unless there’s a wide vehicle making the attempt despite signage prohibiting such traffic.
