Niles Pond Never Disappoints — pat morss

The winter birds are back.

Something has the Cormorants’ attention
A Great Blue Heron, motionless like a statue
Watching me, ten feet away, as well as the pond
A female Mallard beauty with every feather in place
The boys (with one interloper) huddle to discuss the next play
We gather this is a cross between a Mallard and an American Black Duck
OK, so this was a month or so ago – last flight out to Mexico for the Monarchs
A Bald Eagle flew in over our heads this morning
Some kind of interest in the harbor
Here it is – some tender loving care for ‘One Love’
And concluding with this evening’s sunset. We’re spoiled.
