SHOUT OUT AND THANK YOU TO MYSTERY FRIEND LAURIE, FROM ERIN AT CAPE ANN WILDLIFE!

Our friend Erin from Cape Ann Wildlife recently sent the following note, “Kim can you tell your friend Laurie I said thank you for the heating pad!! She didn’t leave a last name. I sent her a thank you through amazon but please give her my thanks if you can!”

I’m not sure which Laurie sent the heating pad either, so here’s a shout out to mystery Laurie and please write if it’s you. Thank you, we would love to know 🙂

If you would like to Help Cape Ann Wildlife with much needed supplies, here is a link to their new wish list on Amazon. Donating is as easy as a click of the button and you will really be helping Erin and Jodi, who are providing a tremendous service to our immediate community, and beyond. If you are looking for a a super easy and wonderfully thoughtful Mother’s Day gift, I imagine there are tons of Moms who would love to have a donation made in their name!

Looks like Erin is putting heating pads to great use with these newborn cottontails!

“As the largest global supplier of marine geotechnical site investigation services, Fugro conducts tailored investigations in all offshore regions of the world.”

Who are those guys? View of Fugro ship changes depending on vantage and as it moves back and forth. View of ship from Good Harbor Beach.

Until I hear back, queue GMG poll for best guesses –  as to what they are doing?

Cape Wind engaged Fugro for survey work as part of pre-construction for offshore utility-scale wind farm. Fugro may have been engaged with phases of projects closer to home, like the LNG “Neptune” buoy port that was developed in 2010 by ENGIE about 10 miles off shore where LNG vessels could moor and discharge natural gas. (Another LNG one, the Northeast gateway, is 18 miles out from Boston.)

Summer STEM Program for Middle and High School Students!

Cape Ann Community

Do you know a middle or high school student who would love a hands-on research experience this summer, working with modern equipment and using real scientific methods to solve problems?

Register for Gloucester Biotechnology Academy’s SummerSTEM program today! Our exciting, one-week laboratory course is available to middle and high school students ages 12 to 17. No prior science or biotech experience needed!

This summer’s course, Fish Fraud Forensics, combines biotechnology and forensics, only this time the CSI team is investigating a real-world problem about fish: how to identify different species of fish by using biotechnology methods.

Students will play the important part of a scientific investigator! Participants will extract DNA from fresh fish samples and then use modern biotechnology methods to identify their fish specimen. Each student will have their own laboratory manual, where they will record their data and observations.
