Seeing History, the floral work of women artists, slide/lecture by Martha Chiarchiaro

Explore the art of Maria Sibylla Merian, botanical artist of the 17th century, and Rachel Ruysch, international master of floral still life in the 17th and 18th centuries. These distinguished women artists created a legacy and broadened our knowledge of flora and fauna.

Martha Chiarchiaro has lectured on art history for more than 30 years. She received her Master’s degree in the History of Art from Williams College and teaches a variety of art history courses at the Worcester Art Museum and other local cultural organizations. Martha has presented topics ranging from floral paintings, American landscapes, and Monet’s gardens at Giverny to many local New England garden clubs. Martha brings history to life with enthusiasm.
