the upcoming weekly workshop at Cape Ann Museum that Mary Rhinelander will be teaching is SOLD OUT, again. Look for future offerings.
The very dedicated and talented O’Maley art teacher, Brett Dunton, shares some action shots of fine artist and master printmaker, Mary Rhinelander, guest teaching printmaking with the authentic Acorn press in one of the 8th Grade art classes at O’Maley Innovation Middle school. Note the foot.

Historic portraits sometimes belie the physicality of the process

Wonder if the O’Maley students will try this energetic technique? photograph of Aino Clarke from the Cape Ann Musem Folly Cove collection

What an opportunity for these students! The press was passed along numerous times, always keeping it here on Cape Ann (Aino Natti – Sarah Elizabeth Halloran-Isabel Natti-Julia Garrison-various good eggs for MARS-Brett Dunton art room O’Maley)

What a great experience for those kids!

#AcornPress – MARS’ Community Outreach Initiative:
Thanks to a very generous donor, Manship Artists Residency + Studios (MARS) has been able to purchase the historic Folly Cove Designer AcornPress, a local cultural icon, presently on loan at the O’Maley School. The early nineteenth-century hand press belonged to Eino Natti, a member of the celebrated Folly Cove Designers. The press preserves our local heritage and allows us to continue this tradition in our community with contemporary artists. #GloucesterMA For full story and more information visit http://www.manshipartists.org

Great post and great experience on the path up! I know this place well worked on the property growing up that way many years – nice orchard too and what a view from Deck sunrise/sets, falls, the pond, and well shoveling the drive way out 3-4 of us…Think the plow was faster later! And swimming in the North quarry then think the three bears were on this side. 🙂 Dave & Kim 🙂
