1927 shipwreck reappears again on Nauset Beach photos from Janet Crary

The three-master SS Montclair from Nova Scotia “a cargo vessel and suspected rum runner” came ashore in pieces in 1927. There were 2 survivors. Thank you Janet Crary for sharing news and photos from your hike on Nauset Beach!

*Back in 2010 a fifty foot cluster of remains appeared near Chatham and articles mentioned the Montclair 1927 wreck the likely contender.

A year ago and nearby, the 1939 Lutzen shipwreck was unearthed by shifting sands after Fall storms.

“So many ships have piled up on the hidden sand bars off the coast between Chatham and Provincetown that those fifty miles of sea have been called an “ocean graveyard.” Indeed, between Truro and Wellfleet alone, there have been more than 1,000 wrecks.”– National Park Service

DARLENE LOVE AT THE CABOT THEATRE

SUPER EXCITED TO SEE THIS FABULOUS LADY ROCKIN THE HOLIDAYS TONIGHT AT THE CABOT. The show is nearly sold out, except for a few single seats scattered throughout the theatre

Despite the somewhat sad lyrics, Darlene however, calls “Baby Please Come Home” “a joyful song.” She said in a New York Times interview: “When I’m singing it, I’m telling everybody to come home to their loved ones. I’m inviting families to get back together again. This is the time to do it.” That’s my takeaway too from the song when she is singing. I imagine most people share those thoughts and is why “Baby Please Come Home” is considered one of the greatest rock and roll Christmas songs of all time.

SIMPLY FANTASTIC “COCO” NOW PLAYING AT GLOUCESTER CINEMA

Original, enchanting, and magical, Disney-Pixar’s Coco is an animated film for all ages. Only just released in the U.S during Thanksgiving weekend, Coco has been at the top of the charts in Mexico for over a month. The filmmakers traveled to Mexico during a period of six years to create a beautiful film about a young boy coming of age that is both culturally authentic and deeply moving.

We love the Gloucester Cinema for the friendly staff, convenience, and delightfully comfortable new seats. Without criticizing Gloucester Cinema in any way, Coco is being released in the U.S. with an absurd short featurette, Olaf’s Frozen Adventure, as though the only way to see a film set in Mexico is to be force fed a horrendously confusing short film, vaguely about Nordic traditions. After you get over the utter incongruity of the two films paired (or just go late so you don’t have to watch the twenty minute short), sit back and get ready to swept up in the magical world of Miquel and his journey to the Land of the Dead.

Gloucester Cinema is located at 74 Essesx Avenue. For tickets and information, visit their website here.

The Cave – cheese, wine and chocolate shop

The Cave- cheese, wine, and chocolate shop, 44 Main Street, #GloucesterMA, is another great local businesses where one stop shopping works! On Thanksgiving weekend, Small Business Saturday, the jingle of the opening door was steady. Customers were in and out picking up host gifts and a new specialty cheese, wine or pate. Laura remembers her regulars and their particular favorite eats and drinks, and better still what they might like to try next.
