Aquanuts Do It Again, Swimming in 9 Rhode Island Beaches in Just One Day!

an2

Hi Joey,

Those crazy Aquanuts! The perseverance, the guts, the athleticism….well, and the absurdity of it all!

For those who are just learning about this unique New England swim team, here’s the rundown: The Aquanuts have been swimming as a team since 2009. They get together annually for one day of rigorous adventure. The crew’s first goal was to swim in 6 States in one day. When that wasn’t enough, they did 7 states in a day, next time it was 8 states all in one day: a day consisting of sunrise to nautical sunset.

They’ve swum all of the beaches on Cape Ann, Martha’s Vineyard, Cape Cod, the entire coast of New Hampshire, and triumphed at the Maine/Canada International.

Nine beaches in nine towns was this year’s goal. On Tuesday, August 15, the five Aquanuts made a big impact on the smallest state, hitting the beaches of coastal Rhode Island. A dawn start at Misquamicut got them out to Block Island and back in time to finish in Little Compton before sunset! The towns in between were: Charlestown, East Matunuck, Narragansett, Newport, Middleton and Jamestown.

Albeit a lovely day on Cape Ann, southern Rhode Island proved challenging. There was rain, scary undertows, shark alerts, one very confused duck, and no time to check out the Newport mansions.

The Aquanuts will be celebrating their 10th anniversary in 2018. Should be a wild and crazy one.

Still crazy after all these years…..not a bad thing!

Thanks for your continued support, Joey.
