SELL OUT WARNING Loretta LaRoche in Beverly Tomorrow Night

As promised, we warn FOBs when a show is about to sell out. Tomorrow’s Loretta LaRoche – Love Laughter and Lasagna (taking you back in time to the humor of growing up with her Italian family in Brooklyn) is selling fast and there are only a few tables left at our new, intimate venue, 9 Wallis in Beverly.  You may have seen Emmy-winning Loretta LaRoche on PBS or during prior tours, but you’ve probably never seen her in an intimate room with comfortable table seating, a delicious Lasagna dinner and bar service!

You don’t want to be one of those people who calls us tomorrow begging for a seat that we can’t give you because there just isn’t any space left, do you?

Here’s Loretta on PBS:

A delightful couple.

Tracks in the Snow

Anyone have any idea of what may have left these behind?  The second set of tracks (seen in the second two photos) kind of looks like you can see a tail dragging.

We Left the Light on For You returning veterans appeal

Pauline Bresnahan writes:

This is info on the “Welcome Home Initiative for Returning Veterans” coming back to Cape Ann. If you have previously given something or may be interested in making a donation with either a Gift Card from your business or even a small monetary donation this letter explains what to do. This year we have 10 returning Veterans to Cape Ann, (9 men and 1 woman).   I am proud  to have named and designed the Logo for the Initiative but am even more honored to be involved with the Elks and the Gloucester Veterans office with this event. Welcome Home to these American Heroes!

I don’t want to sound dramatic About The End Of Western Culture Beginning With U12 Girls Soccer, but I Totally Think It Is

image

The ABSOLUTE 100% highlight of my week is getting to watch my daughters play soccer.  I LOVE the place where they play –Danvers Indoor Sports.  It is clean, well run, and an awesome modern place where the kids can get their sporting activity on even in the dead of winter.

But I’m afraid that the place where my favorite thing in the world to do has now succumbed to the idiots that have brought us participation awards instead of tournaments where there are winners and losers.

A couple of weeks ago the scoreboards stopped keeping score.  The timers worked just fine, but when a team scored a goal, it didn’t register.   Among the parents we just assumed that the scoring system where the ref changes the scores was broken.  But yesterday we found out that it was a conscious decision to stop displaying the scores because people were getting too charged up over the scores and because… feelings.

I can’t BELIEVE IT!

Are you kidding me??????

We’re just gonna stop keeping score now??????  I can’t, I really really really can’t believe that this is a thing.   I’m so beyond disappointed that this is the direction people want to go with the youth of America.  So soft.  So beyond soft.

This is craaaazy.

Warby Parker Eyeglass Unboxing Video

Here are my new nerdy prescription eyeglasses.  $100 delivered to my door.

No brainer.  Now I know why John McElhenny and Kim Smith sing Warby Parker’s praises.

PLEASE VOTE FOR ME!

Essex National Heritage is celebrating their 20th anniversary. To mark this special occasion, Essex Heritage is recognizing organizations and people that make the Essex National Heritage Area (Essex County) so exceptional.

Much, much to my delighted surprise, I have been nominated as an Essex Heritage Trailblazer in the second category, Connecting People to Place. The 130 nominees are all stellar and most are businesses and very large organizations, for example, the Peabody Essex Museum, Mass Audubon (statewide), and Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, so it is really quite an honor to be nominated. I think GMG could have been nominated for all our work collectively but I am of course grateful for the nomination.

The voting process is very simple, you don’t have to provide your email address or any other personal information. Please vote Kim Smith, in the center column, halfway down in the second category, Connecting People to Place. Here is the link to vote: surveymonkey.com/r/TrailblazersVote

All nominees will be recognized and the Gala sounds like great fun–celebratory cocktails, an exquisite dinner, silent auction, and a Toast to the Trailblazers.

Dave Sag’s Blues Party tonight! Come join Dave and his friends as he celebrates his retirement 8:30pm 2.23.2017

dave-sag-8-25-2016

Hey! I’m gonna “retire” this week. No, not from playing music, but from all the suffering brought on by the sweat, the boils, and the tears of being a working class hero. Yes, I’m officially retiring! Who cares!! It’s not like anything else is changing.
So, I’m bringing in some of my loyal friends to help me cerebrate. First, there’s Mr.Paul F’oss of Bangor Me.,my Secretary of the Exterior who’s gonna manipulate his Emmenne Organ® and push for olive oil exploration in Maine. Nexxt, Mr. Bill Cunniff, former Rockport-o-rican whizzes in from Baltimore as Sec’y of States of Consiousness to help out on glitar doodies. He’s bringing a bunch of little plastic bags….. Mr. Steve “Silvertone” Coveny , Sec’y of Libel, hitchhikes in from Peabody to sing and play grueling catarrh. All held together by that kool kat of Ipswich, Mr. Dave Moore, my newest favorite Drummer. This is going to be dangerous, as you’ll have to listen to me sing most of the night. C’mon out and enjoy the spring-like weather.
