5TH ANNUAL ARAN J. PATRICAN / RYAN J. PATRICAN MEMORIAL GOLF TOURNAMENT

The main point of this post is that there is no time like the present to enjoy life.  Secondarily, if you are able to help someone less fortunate than yourself while enjoying a slice of life, then take the opportunity to do so.  (see golf tournament info, below).

Though I was fortunate to enjoy a delicious Father’s Day breakfast and great company with my family at Lobsta Land (thanks, Dad!), this annual holiday has more recently been tinged with a level of sadness that underscores the miracle of life and the importance of taking the time to enjoy it to its fullest.

Five years ago, on January 6, 2012 my dear friend Aran Patrican tragically succumbed to a viral disease that attacked his heart just two weeks after his only son, Thomas, celebrated his first birthday.  At the time, we knew Aran had been dealing with a stubborn seasonal cold, but he carried on as usual, kept reporting to work as a Gloucester Police officer.  Otherwise, his spirits were up during this holiday season and he reveled in his new role as a doting father.  By the time he realized the severity of the illness it was too late.  Since that time there has been a void left in the lives of the many who knew and loved him.

Thomas, now five and a half, is bright and happy and has thrived in the loving home of his mother and older sister Sophia, but he will not have the benefit of being nurtured in the presence of his father’s generous wisdom, tremendous wit, and warm heart.  It is for this reason that — getting back to my opening points — I’m asking you to participate for fun, competition, and quality time with friends in the Aran/Ryan Patrican Memorial Golf Tournament to benefit Thomas’ future.

Every year since Aran’s passing I have worked with a close group of friends to raise money to help support the future of Aran’s son, Thomas.  Please complete the following form to ensure that you reserve a spot for your foursome in the Fifth Annual Aran/Ryan Patrican Memorial Golf Tournament which will take place on Monday, July 18th at the Beverly Golf and Tennis Club.

This golf tourney, coupled with the annual early June hockey tournament (special thanks this year to Mike Hale, Eric McNiff, Tony “Legend” Frontiero, Will Brown, and all that turned out for a great night of hockey earlier this month) is helping to build a scholarship fund for young Thomas.  Our goal is to continue raising money that Aran’s son will use to fund his education after he graduates high school.

If you are able to play, as a single or with a group, I look forward to seeing you on the links having a great time — again, see contact info below.  If unable to make it this year, please be sure to take a moment to reflect on the good that life has to offer.

Thanks,

JD Perry
