Riverbend Restaurant coming to Essex

Forgot to mention weather dependent outside dining on the deck and what appears to be ample parking front and to the side. Will be ready to open sometime in June.

New restaurant coming to Essex!

The Riverbend restaurant still under construction is coming to the Essex Marina area with a target date of sometime in June. Great views from this spot of the marshes and Essex River. They are still looking for help in the wait staff and bartending positions. More to follow.

How Did You Get There?

ten pound visitors

I took these shots on April 30. At the time, I didn’t know what I was shooting. I could see something in the distance on the wall, but didn’t know what it was (I was shooting from Oakes Cove at Ten Pound Island). There was no boat anywhere near or on shore, so I didn’t think it was people.Ā If you recognize yourselves, tell us – how in the world did you get out there?

Gloucester Motif Monday: Manny Carrancho shares treasured photos Our Lady Statue carried from the Gil Eannes at State Pier to Our Lady

Manny 057

In honor of the annual Crowning Feast of the Holy Spirit which begins tonight, today’s Gloucester Motif MondayĀ is a legacy one.

Good Morning Gloucester is an indisputable platform forĀ outreachĀ and community.Ā A couple of years ago, because of research I was doing about Gordon Parks in Gloucester and thankfully Joey posted on Good Morning Gloucester, I was able to interview Manny Carrancho. Manny and his family spent considerable time giving me a detailed account of earlierĀ events in their lives. They shared treasured historic photos and first hand knowledge and were a delight.

This week I’ll feature photographs from a souvenir picture album in Manny’s collection as they feature Our Lady of Good Voyage and one of the Madonna statues.Ā The photographs are from a booklet: Coronation Our Lady Of Good Voyage,Ā producedĀ with cooperation of the Portuguese Daily News and photography by Hollywood Studio, New Bedford, MA.Ā You will see the Ā Our Lady statueĀ on the vessel Gil Eannes with Bishop Don Manuel Salguiero.Ā ItsĀ special arrival is met by a town procession led by Arch Bishop Wright and dignitaries at the State Pier. Twelve fishermen were selected to greet them. Let us know if you recognize family in the photographs. Were you there?Ā

I found the SUN in Lane’s Cove

BLM_8162-Edit

Had a nice Mother’s Day yesterday with all my girls home. Ā Funny part was it’s the first week in May and we had the fireplace going all day! Ā  AND…. in case Ā anyone was wondering, that was the sun in the sky yesterday afternoon so of course I ended my Mother’s Day by catching the sunset at Lane’s Cove last night! Ā Hoping the rain is behind us and there are more nights like this to enjoy! (ok maybe it could be a little warmer lol!)

Things You Find in a Boat Yard For $100, Alex.

If Boat Yards was a category on Jeopardy. Ā Such pretty colors….for a big pile in a boat yard.
