I try to attend this every year. To me, it embodies the soul of Gloucester.

Thank you for this touching video, it’s been 14yrs since my son Tom went down with the vessel Starbound, the memorial helps a great deal for me with knowing that our fishermen are remembered every August..

In Memorial of our hero’s of our Sea
By Peter A. Todd 08/20/2015
Poet Laureate of Gloucester Mass 2014 – 2018
We gather round our guardian of our shore
To give praise and prayers to hero’s of our sea
Beloved Fishermen of who worked their hands to the bone
So that our future could be worry free
Grandfathers, Dads, brothers and sons who have crossed over
Like the Fishermen of the ships in Galilee
Who are with our Lord and St Peter?
Where all earthly pain and suffering ceases to be
We pay homage to our great Fishermen
Who once pulled up their nets so they could feed?
The children and the loved ones
Who in Spirit watch over from the Heaven’s golden shore
We cast the flowers and wreaths as our symbol of love
As each pedestal is released by loved ones hands
We give praise and prayer to all his angel’s above
As our token of faith reaches out to the promise land
