Please do not forget that for Gloucester residents admission is free at the Cape Ann Museum in January. Rick and I went on Saturday and were totally amazed how wonderful this museum is. They allow some photography but only used my cell phone. We thoroughly enjoyed it and cannot wait to go again.

Donna, did you get to take any of the “Winter Shorts”tours on Saturday or Sunday? A once a year event, but come on back if you didn’t and get one of the docents to show you some of the special features of the Museum. There are about 20 of us volunteer associates conducting 45 minute tours six days a week, at 11 am weekdays, 11 am and 2 pm Saturdays and 2 pm Sundays. Don’t miss the “Portraits of a Working Waterfront.” on the third floor. In fact, I’ll take you (and other GMG readers) around at 11 on Friday if you’re free. Bring your camera.

Hi Tom: thank you for your post, I did not take the Winter Shorts tour on Saturday. I did see the faces on the waterfront which was outstanding. Only brought my cell phone because was not sure you could take photos. Not sure about Friday, have a work obligation but thank you so much. What a wonderful museum

TheMuseum used to ban cameras — impossible to enforce in the age of iPhones, and most other museums allowed it. Now the rule is no photos of works that are specifically identified as on loan from somewhere else, and that viewers are asked not to photograph them. Flash is also prohibited.
