As long as supplies last if any GMG folks want a bumper sticker but can't drop down the dock, just send a self addressed and stamped envelope longer then 7 and a half inches and I'll drop one in the mail for you.

I love Boston and our athletic tradition and I love the Olympics but I am not keen on merging the two. Hosting the summer Olympics is a huge tax-suck which creates infrastructure that needs upkeep and overhead – only to leave white elephants in its wake.

So, the Big Dig didn’t teach anyone anything? Boston needs to host the Olympics about as much as it needs two million more cars and drivers. For someone to claim that bringing the Olympics to the Hub would make it a “world-class city” A) probably can’t give a satisfactory definition of what that might be, and B) doesn’t realize that Boston already is a world-class city.
Ask anyone in Beijing or London or Atlanta how their experience worked out. A few years ago some local (Seattle) boosters tried to get the city interested in bidding for the Games, and were quickly buried by an avalanche of “What are you, nuts? Traffic isn’t bad enough already?”
But don’t get me started….

Thanks Bex and Bill for your thoughts and opinions! Come back tomorrow at 10:00 to take the poll “Bring on the Olympic Rings or Hells No, Forget About Those Things!” It’ll certainly be interesting to see how this all plays out over the course of the next couple of years.

I agree with Bex and Bill, we don’t need it for all the reasons they state. Boston is already a first class city. A bunch of facilities and stadiums that we are stuck paying for is not something we need.
They should have gone with LA.

I’m in agreement as well.
