I’ve never seen the lobster trap tree lighting, but today I was determined. After the 5pm lighting, I walked to the nearby bus stop, and was ten minutes early. Twenty minutes after the pickup time, still waiting, cold and shivering with my walker, I hobbled back to the gallery. What to do? I called Gloucester Taxi (978-283-0099) for a ride home to Rockport. It cost $11 plus tip ($5). I had a nice and smooth ride with driver Scott. Although CATA is 99% reliable, keep a $20 bill in your wallet, along with the Gloucester Taxi business card.

As always, good advice. I looked for you last night.

Oh yikes Fred that stinks! You have our number and we are more than happy to give you a ride anytime – we are neighbors after all at work and home! I think your shop is about the same distance from our studio as our houses in Pigeon Cove are from each other.

Thanks my friends James and Anna. I was kind of in a lurch, and the first thing I thought of was a taxi. It worked out fine, as I only used my cane, and have used it exclusively since.

Turns out, the City and Police closed that section of Main Street without informing CATA. Bob Ryan, COO of CATA, investigated why I wasn’t picked up, and explained it to me. Not their fault, not mine, but lack of communication. I did find out from him that when bus service is cancelled, notices are posted on the bus stop signs.
