My parents lived over there on the Back Shore and so did I for years. In the winter storms it was really no fun. Shingles would blow off the walls and roof and rocks would land in the yard. Although my parents loved living there until the end of their lives, I noticed that they seldom went in the living room or dining room in the front of the house in the winter. They lived in the kitchen in the rear, facing the garden and up the hill toward Souther Road. My room was on the third floor looking out at Thatcher Island. In a winter storm the snow would find its way in around the window facing the ocean and it was hard to sleep with the waves crashing across the street.
