Cherry Pear Pie with Almond Crumble Topping & Maple Syrup Caramel
Ingredients
1 frozen pie shell
6 cups diced pear; core & stem removed
2 tablespoon lemon juice
⅔ cups granulated sugar
1 tablespoon dark brown sugar
¼ teaspoon ground mace
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon kosher salt
½ cup dried cherries
3 tablespoon cornstarch
Almond Crumble Topping
Ingredients
6 tablespoon salted butter softened
1 cup quick-dried oats
1 cup flour
2 teaspoon dark brown sugar
½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon almond extract
⅓ cup sliced almonds
Maple Syrup Caramel
Ingredients
1/2 cup maple syrup
1/2 cup Sweetened Condensed Milk
4 tablespoons Karo Dark Corn Syrup
1 stick salted butter
1/4 cup whole milk
Step-by-Step
1 combine; pear, lemon juice, sugars, mace cinnamon, salt and cherries in mixing bowl; mix pie filling well
2 transfer filling into pie shell
3 combine first six ingredients of Almond Crumble Topping in medium size mixing bowl; using clean hands, work ingredients together until coarse crumbly texture is formed; add sliced almond; mix well
4 fix Almond Crumble Topping evenly over top of pie filling
5 bake 30 minutes in preheated 375 degree oven
6 without removing pie from oven, loosely cover top of pie with aluminum foil; continue to bake pie 30-40 minutes (depending on the ripeness of the pears)
7 remove pie from oven when pears are fork tender; let rest 15 minute before slicing
8 drizzle each pie slice with Maple Syrup Caramel just before serving
Maple Syrup Caramel
Step-by-Step
1 combine all ingredients in medium size saucepan; bring to rolling boil; boil 5 minutes; stir continuously
2 remove from heat; cool 5 minutes before serving; serve warm
