Might be sun glint on a contrail. This happens when the sun is just below the horizon and with the darkened sky background it is very evident.

It looks like airplane contrail (vapor trail) that is being back-lit by the setting sun. A meteorite would be moving much faster and fade out much faster than a plane/contrail. Good to keep you eyes on the sky!

me again, another member of the astronomy club says you should contact AMS, American Meteor Society. They would have other reports if it was a meteor.

Looks like the sun catching a jet’s vapor trail. You can see the separation at the beginning which is the jets on either side of the plane.
