It’s not beach balls and rubber duckies. Great time lapse visualizations of how garbage moves around our oceans to the 6 largest patches (they used surface drifter buoys with GPS sensors).
“What we found is patches are international problem…It’s not that plastic from one country ends up in one particular patch; quite the contrary, all of the plastic ends up in all the patches and all are interconnected in a way we didn’t know before”. Thank you for posting this. Plastics are one of the next big things we’re going to wake up to and think, what the hell were we thinking? I see little bits of plastic all over the back shore, beaches, etc. I’m sure everyone is aware. I try to pick up what I can, and teach my kids to do the same. They understand where that junk ends up. It’s not enough to simply recycle, but we should all try to reduce the amount of plastic that comes into our homes. This is great, eye-opening information you’ve shared here. I hope everyone takes a few minutes to watch these videos so they can grasp the depth of the problem. The Midway video alone should shake you to the core. Powerful, necessary stuff.

A needed message for sure – Like I mentioned before I remember the fisherman and lobsterman pulling this stuff out of the water and bringing back to land to trash can on dock…It’s bad this way also…take out what you take in!
