Hi:
Love your blog. I follow it as a Cape Ann native currently living in Dorchester.
Not sure if you’d be interested, but there’s an incredible set of photos from the 70s taken for the DOCUMERICA Project and currently housed in the U.S. Archives. They are primarily of Rockport, but they are really cool.
Check them out here:

Thanks for posting these! Amazing stuff.

These are wonderful. So sad, though, to see Rowe’s Point as it used to be, beautiful, as compared to now, covered in the scourge of Cape Ann, the condo development.

Glad to see the interest on this! EPA is currently running a modern effort to revitalize the Documerica project, called ‘State of the Environment’. We are collecting current photos of our environment and way of life today. The project is accepting both ‘matching’ photos to compare the change side by side, as well as any photos that you take that represent our environment today. Rockport has been featured with a ‘Then and Now’ entry. Check it out at http://www.epa.gov/stateoftheenvironment. Photos can be submitted through Flickr at http://www.flickr.com/groups/ourenvironment ~ Thanks again!
