  1. God rest the valiant souls of these Gloucester natives several of whom I knew personally, grew up with and played ball with, and served with. This in spite of a disrespectful and CLULESS excuse for a mayor. Some will never forgive her insesitivity and her crassness. I will FOREVER, be one of those.

    1. Yes! God if there is one rest all those who have gave their lives for our country. But Nikita63 if you did your homework the Mayor had nothing to do with the decision to leave out the Vietnam memorial. I WISH WE COULD MOVE ALL THE MEMORIALS TO WHERE THE WWII MEMORIAL IS AT THE BOULEVARD. WHY CAN’T WE?

  2. Ode to our Service People
    An every day thought

We salute with pride the soldiers of our nation
For the dedication they give as they serve
Giving to us at home hope and inspiration
It is because of them Freedom lives
By the wings of Jet Plane’s soaring the sky
With the Navy and Coast guarding the sea’s below
The Army and the Marine’s fighting day and night
As the cry for the end of suffering grows
They did not ask to be put in such a place
Where the sand and wind tear at their skin
To witness the unnecessary death and disgrace
For this war caused by terrorists they seek to win
Men and Women who have loved ones here
Who’ve prayed for their return every day and night?
I now pray to my God I hold dear
Return them home by the next new dawns light
At each new days is born we celebrate with heads held high
For the freedom that our forefathers have given
We honor those who sacrificed their life
That we enabled to abide in the Freedom were living
We stand tall as we salute the Flag of our Nation
Its fifty stars and its stripes of red white and blue
We give thanks to God our Father of all creation
That all the rewards of Peace will come true

  4. I try to imagine what being in the armed forces would be like. Not knowing day to day if today is THE day. The day your life might end never seeing your kids, your spouse, your family again,
the day your life is forever changed because of a physical or psychological wound…It’s hard to wrap your head around living that way. But something in the core, in the genes if you will, of the American family produces these amazing individuals that do what needs to be done at what ever the cost. It’s a humbling thing and I am ever in their debt. I want them all home. I think of my Uncles in WW2, my friends in Viet Nam and my heart just breaks. They were forever changed.
