Barbara Bodin Paints During The July 2011 Block Party

Fred Bodin Writes-

Barbara Bodin, Fred Bodin’s sister, paints outside his galley in the West End during the Block Party. Barb is visiting from Martha’s Vinyard to take painting workshops at the North Shore Arts Association. And, of course, spend some quality time with her brother. The view is of diners in front of La Tratoria.

Gloucester Views From Up High- Beacon Marine From Kathy Chapman’s Studio

In the heart of God’s Country (East Gloucester) Kathy Chapman found herself this incredible space to work and live.  Yeah, I think I could be inspired working out of a studio space like this Smile

Kathy showed me some of the multiple exposure work that she is doing and believe me when I tell you that post seeing her captures I was completely humbled by her awesomeness.

Film Noir

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Film noir is a cinematic term used primarily to describe stylish Hollywood crime dramas, particularly those that emphasize cynical attitudes and sexual motivations. Hollywood’s classic film noir period is generally regarded as stretching from the early 1940s to the late 1950s. Film noir of this era is associated with a low-key black-and-white visual style that has roots in German Expressionist cinematography.

Almost any scene can be made to seem sinister using simulated film noir lighting techniques, even a nice dinner at CATCH 22

Lisa Ramos Represents! Down In Sanibel

Joey, I brought my GMG sticka to Sanibel last week to represent at Blind Pass.  Funny thing happened on the way back to get coffee.  I went into the Sanibel Bean shop.  They have great photos of people all over the world holding theirs too.  But then when I told the lady that I have just done the same with my Good Morning Gloucester sticka and showed it to her, and asked for a Sanibel bean bumpa sticka and I would take a pick in front of the fishermans statue for her, she could not understand what I was asking for.

Lady -"What is it you would like dear?"

Me- "A bumpa sicka"

Lady "A what?"

Me – " A BUMPA STICKA!"

Lady – "what?"

Me-  pause   "Oh sorry a bumperrrr stickerrrr"

Then I got one of hers and gave her my GMG sticka.

Gloucester Sidewalk Bazaar Coming to Main Street August 4th, 5th & 6th

image

The Gloucester Downtown Association is happy to announce that they will be coordinating the 53rd Annual Gloucester Sidewalk Bazaar scheduled to take place on Thursday, Friday and Saturday : August 4th, 5th and 6th from 9:00 am to 5:00pm each day rain or shine. The Bazaar has become a Gloucester tradition that incorporates shopping, outdoor dining, music, children’s activities, artists and crafters along side local non-profit organizations.

Shoppers will be able to choose from a wide array of goods and diners will find plenty of great food. In addition to the traditional sausages, pizza, popcorn and slush, a number of Main Street restaurants will be creating special menu offerings and serving outdoors.

Local non-profit organizations continue to be an integral part of the event with church, school, health, wellness, and civic organizations represented. Planned children’s activities include miniature train rides, giant inflatable, face painting, jugglers, and the popular Cape Ann Vernal Pond snakes and let’s not forget the dog parade on Saturday!

Plan to come down one day or all three and help us create an event that is A True Celebration of our Downtown. There promises to be something for everyone.

To download an application go to businc.org and click on Sidewalk Bazaar applications or contact Grace Giambanco Numerosi at 978-337-7117 or email her at gracegiambanco@hotmail.com

Leonardo’s Chicken Kabob Sub

Leonardo’s has been quickly climbing up my local sub shop rankings.

So crazy how many great places we have to get sandwiches.

Virgilios, Sclafanis, Destinos and Leonardos sit atop the leader board followed closely by at least 10 other very worthy other sandwich joints.

I think the way they toast their buns gives them a nice touch.

On the Hill

Right out of the camera with just a crop, this has a painterly look to it. Maybe it’s FH Lane revisiting on the full moon night!
