Gloucester Day With the Bean- Taking Silly Pictures At Barbara Koen’s Dress Code

After finishing up our coffee and hot chocolate and cleaning up a nasty hot chocolate incident at The Lone Gull we headed up to Barbara Koen’s Dress Code.

I dig popping in there if for nothing else but to catch some of that good karma from Barbara and the girls who work there.  Always a fun experience and you never know if you’ll find a hidden gem.

Right now there are a bunch of brand new TUMI bags selling for 1/5 or so of their original prices.  If you are a traveller you will recognize TUMI as the top brand in luggage.   These bags were smaller messenger style and laptop bags but all brand new and pretty bad-ass.  I’ve been having an internal debate about buying one for several months now.

Here’s the Bean and I taking a silly picture in the overhead curvy mirror-

Gloucester Day With the Bean- Cookie And Hot Chocolate At The Lone Gull

Tuesday was a Gloucester Day with the Bean.  After picking her up at shool we headed down to The Lone Gull for a m&m cookie and hot chocolate.

Both of the girls love going to the Lone Gull and while it’s obviously a coffee shop they both call it “The Cookie Store”.

Fed up with the lackluster performance from former contestants representing The Farm Bar and Grille, owners Ryan and Noah are taking the challenge into thier own hands.

David Cox’ Very Organized Workspace At Main Street Art and Antiques

Behind David Cox’ desk on the wall hangs a picture of Nick’s pool Hall which was located in the space occupied by Main Street Art and Antiques over 20 years ago.

I would say that I’ve heard at least four different people at different times ask how much that picture would cost to purchase but it is not for sale.

It sure is a beautiful picture.

GHS Theatre Program Stages Local Performance of Statewide Competition Piece

From Good Egg Beth Morris-

GHS Theatre Program Stages Local Performance of Statewide Competition Piece
Students share the stage with their peers from North Shore Tech.

Gloucester — February 10, 2010 – The GHS Theatre Program will perform The Scheme of the Driftless Shifter, on Thursday, February 25th at 7:00 pm in the GHS auditorium.  The play, a 40-minute one-act comedy, is Gloucester’s entry in the Massachusetts High School Drama Guild Festival competition. Students from North Shore Technical High School will also perform their competition piece, Grimm’s Fairy Tales, an original adaptation by Robert Parsons.

The Massachusetts High School Drama Festival annually draws an average of 120 schools from around the state.  Through participation in the Festival, students with interests in acting, directing, and technical theatre gain valuable performance and production experience.  Schools compete at preliminary, semi-final and state levels with two schools chosen at the state level to represent Massachusetts in the New England Drama Festival.  At each level, students are recognized for excellence.  A terrific learning experience, the Festival is also great fun.

For a number of years Gloucester High School and North Shore Technical High School have performed in the same preliminary round of the competition. This year, however, they will not. While both will perform on Saturday, February 27th, GHS will take the stage at 9:00 a.m. at Ipswich High School, NSTHS at 2:00 p.m. in Newburyport.

There are many friendships between the two programs.  GHS students didn’t want to give up the tradition of sharing the “Fest” experience with NSTHS and therefore invited their peers to join in the local performance.  Having no home stage facility on which to perform, NSTHS is particularly pleased to have this opportunity.

28 GHS students and 33 NSTHS students (several from Cape Ann) will take part in this special performance. Tickets for February 25th are $5.00 and may be purchased at the door.  For more information please contact ghstheatreprogram@gmail.com

North Shore Magazine Hosting the Incoherent Ramblings of Yours Truly

It’s true, editor Jack Morris has invited me to post on theNorth Shore Magazine website so check out my first post over there-

http://nshoremag.com/world-competitive-eating-north-shore-style/

I hope to bring some fresh flavor to North Shore Magazine, not that it needs it.  If you’ve seen an issue you know it’s high quality through and through.

Hopefully I don’t ruin the brand with my sometimes off color humor, atrocious spelling and hope for the best punctuation.  Hey it’s a 50/50 shot if I put the apostrophe before or after the s isn’t it?

Ryan and Wood Release Premium Folly Cove Rum Video

Manuel Simoes Captures my interview with Bobby Ryan at The Ryan and Wood Distillery in Historic Gloucester Massachusetts.

Oh and BTW- that is not a fart about 3/4 of the way through the video. It’s the Bean giving me a zerbert on my neck while I’m conducting this very professional interview.

I wonder where she gets her sense of humor?
