LOBSTER TRAP TREE UNDER CONSTRUCTION, WITH A VISIT BY MAYOR SEFATIA, KEN RIEHL, THE DI STEFANO FAMILY -AND DON’T FORGET TO VOTE FOR WHITE OR COLORED LIGHTS

By noon today the super dedicated Lobster Trap Tree building team had made great headway. With snow predicted for tomorrow, the crew plans to have the tree built by day’s end. Don’t let the photos deceive; Shawn Henry was wearing shorts but it was frigid at noon and only getting colder as the day progressed.

Many thanks to Three Lanterns Marine for providing the 360 lobster traps required to construct the tree.

Mayor Sefatia and granddaughters, Cape Ann Chamber of Commerce CEO Ken Riehl, and Gloucester’s Economic Development Director Sal Di Stefano and his wife Maria (and kids), all stopped by to check on the tree’s progress while they were out shopping local for Small Business Saturday.

Please vote your preference for either warm white lights or multi-colored lights for Gloucester’s unique and beautiful Lobster Trap Tree. Thank you!

Horgan wrote about the Seaport Economic Council  award announcements August 15th, City Wins $110,000 promote its fish, lobster  “We’re really excited about the attention the program is getting,” said Sal Di Stefano, the city’s economic development director and its point man on the Gloucester Fresh campaign. “This was just a concept a few years ago and now it’s an internationally recognized brand. We’re really proud of that.”

Today before an international delegation from the Seafood Expo North America held at the Gloucester House Restaurant luncheon, Mayor Sefatia Romeo Theken announced a brand new partnership between Ninety Nine Restaurant and Pub, Gloucester Seafood Processing, and Fishermen’s Wharf.  Ninety Nine will source local seafood from Gloucester to all of its 105 New England restaurants.

The relationship between our city and the Ninety Nine Restaurant and Pub would not have happened if it were not for the strength of Gloucester seafood and its world-renowned products, ” said Mayor Theken

SEAFOOD EXPO REDFISH SOUP PREPARATIONS PHOTOS #teamgloucester #GloucesterFresh #SENA16

Last year, 5,000 samples were served from 62 gallons of Fishermen’s Wive’s redfish soup. Unbelievably, this year’s batch of soup looks like an even greater amount. A tremendous effort on behalf of our community has been extended by Angela Sanfilippo, Sal Di Stefano, Cara Ring, Mark Ring, Natalie Ring, Tom Ring, Mariella Cannavo, Margherida Bellicia, Todd Snopkowski from Snap Chef, Misslewood Executive Chef Sean McCarthy, Jason Hakes, Abde Lhamid Yacine, Ethan Piper, Madi Woods, Patrick Finocchiaro, and everyone involved in the food preparations. Three cheers and a thundering shout out to Mayor Sefatia Romeo Thekan for her vision in bringing Gloucester for the second year in a row to the Seafood Expo North America, and a huge thank you to everyone working so hard to make SENA16 a great success.
