Smokin Jim’s Menu

I got the combo #2.  It’s hard for me to justify spending more than $10 for lunch.  That seems to be where I cap out my lunch spending dollars.

If you click the picture and select “all sizes” you will get the full size more readable version.

The Harbor Room Taken From The State Fish Pier

Snapped this shot from the Fish Pier where they were pulling the rotted pilings.

The Schooner Adventure Gets Paint

Slowly but surely The Schooner Adventure has been taking shape. The paint on the topside really makes her pop from across the North Channel.

Baby Dogfish

This Baby Dogfish came up in a tote of lobsters the day before yesterday. How it got in with the lobsters I have no idea.

Again and Again Director’s Chair

Swung by to see Freida at Again and Again (she makes cool handbags made from recycled sailcloth) and saw this director’s chair that they make. Very cool.

Freida will be lending us a big sail for the Downtown Block Party that we are going to use as a screen to show slide shows of Gloucester Pictures and live video from the event itself. That’s gonna be cool as hell!

Baby Dogfish Video from Hootenanny03

I found this video on YouTube showing what baby dogfish look like swimming around in an aqaurium.

Baby Dogfish

Here is a picture of a baby dogfish. When we used to handle fish, many times the big female dogfish sharks would spill four or five of these baby dogfish out of her belly when we were dumping them into the big vats used to transport the fish to the processors. They all had these amniotic sacs attached to them.

This particular dogfish was mixed in with a tote of lobsters that came in. It brought back memories of those summers when we used to fill trailer loads full of dogfish every day right through the summer and into the fall.

Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center Wharf Shack 4:55AM 7/25/08

I spent a little time on the docks yesterday morning getting what I thought at the time some great shots of the rowing gigs they have on their floats. As it turns out with the wave action of the boats going by the pics that I got on the floats didn’t come out as good as I thought. Another morning when it’s slow on the  water perhaps.  That way the long exposures in the dark won’t come out as blurry.  There were some decent ones in the parking lot though.

Lobster Claw Regeneration Pictures

Here is the lobster claw growing in place of its old one from the underside of the lobster. You can see by the size of it’s other claw it has a long way to go to catch up.

Breakfast At Stone Soup on Lobster Cove

Took my girls to Stone Soup on Lobster Cove yesterday morning. It was windy as hell but hat a beautiful spot.

They have a limited menu which didn’t include my favorite the Merry Breakfast Sandwich, but the home made corned beef hash was very very good. Pricing was a little on the high side but the location and setting more than make up for it.

The coffee was great too. My pal Toby tells me they brew RAO coffee.
