Pete Mondello Displays Repaired Lobster Buoy

Here’s Pete Mondello with some repaired buoys.  The thing about the Mondello boys is that they never ever stop.  They always are doing something weather it be tinkering on the boat or repairing traps or buoys.  They never stop.  Talk about energy.  It’s just go-go-go.

Gloucester House Explosion

Huge sections of the house were strewn all about.  What a huge blast to create so much damage.  Thanks to Mike Lindberg for the photos.

Would you just look at the vinyl siding peeled away from the next door neighbor’s house?  I’m guessing we’re lucky more people weren’t injured.

Where Zat? #8

Where Zat

Last week’s winner was Zanny from Maine. She received a gift certificate from the Black Swan. Congratulations again!

Zanny wrote,” …I knew taking the Short Cut through that cemetery and checking out every single headstone would pay off some day!   I’d like to thank My Mom, for telling me not to do that.  Mrs Leslie Harris, my 4th Grade Teacher, who taught all of us Essex Kids a very detailed History of Essex, Joey, for making a fun blog to check into every day, and my neighborhood kids, for thinking that John Wise’s Grave looks like Aslan’s Table…”

This week the prize is a $25 gift certificate from Bob Ritchie at the Dogtown Book Shop, 132 Main St. downtown.  All sorts of books…used and unusual. The shop reminds me of the old Magnolia Library. It’s very cool. Thank you, Bob!

Good luck  everyone!

Linda Morse’s Old Man And The Sea Photo

Linda Morse sent in this pic she took back in November of 07.

At first glance it simply looks like a cloudy day that someone took a picture of a wave.  But when you look a little more closely you can see that the wave looks like the silhouette of  man.  Linda must have submitted this picture four or five times and to be honest I thought she was a crazy fan of the blog that took some random picture of the ocean, but I didn’t realize how much the pic did look like a man’s face.

Sorry Linda, lol.  Now I get it!  Linda sent me a beautiful photo album of her work and she really is a good photographer.

It’s amazing how they lift expensive boats in and out of teh water like toys.  I’d be scared shitless that a strap would break or the boat would slip out and come crashing down.  The boys must know what they’re doing though because you never hear of a mess up and they put tons of boats in and out of the water every year.

Could you imagine being at the controls while a million dollar boat was in the straps?  Yikes!
