Beautiful Industry- Lighting Fixtures In The Attic Of The Birdseye Building

MAC Fitness Gloucester Walkthrough Video Part I

Yesterday I toured the about-to-be opened MAC Fitness facility and got some video for you guys as they put the finishing touches on.

The fitness center is  located on Whistlestop Way behind the train station and The Azorean restaurant.

Every single piece of equipment is brand spanking new state of art fitness equipment.  Never Used- Never Sweated Upon- Brand New.  Individual tvs on the treadmills and stairmasters- this is quite the facility.

Here’s a heads up- They are running a no join up fee program through the end of this month and it’s only going to cost $39 a month to join.  The locker rooms have  individual shower stalls and wood paneled lockers which are available for daily use or long term rental.

Now I’m going to start going in January once things slow down here at the dock.  If you go and join up make sure you mention you heard about it from your boy Joey Ciaramitaro at Good Morning Gloucester.  (they’ll tune me up with a small referral fee),  it would be much appreciated 🙂

David Brooks From Art Haven Weighs In On The Gloucester vs Rockland Lobster Trap Tree Debate

From David Brooks-

So just so you all know this year the street will be shut down 3:30-5:00 so we can accomodate the masses of people who will be coming out to see the lighting of New Englands biggest and best Lobster Trap Christmas Tree!

Did anyone mention the the Gloucester Tree is adorned with the artwork of hundreds of Gloucester childrens. The Lobster Trap Tree represents more than just Christmas. It is a true representation of the fisherman of Gloucester, their families and the rich artistic heritage that makes Gloucester what we all hold so dear.

Our tree is more than just wire and rope and bricks. Its a symbol, and that what make it so much better the the Rockland tree.

Merry Christmas (even before Thanksgiving)

Lest we all forget amidst our fun poking  jabs at each other’s tree-

Merry Christmas 🙂 From Gloucester To Rockland

as an aside (at the bank the other day I heard Christmas muzak a full week before we even had Thanksgiving)  WTF!

Here’s some more pics from last years Gloucester Lobster Trap Tree-

Ya think they have anything this cool in Anytown, or Plainsville USA? No freakin way! This is another reason Gloucester Rocks!

Gloucester Monthly Parking Tag Info From City Treasurer Jeffrey Towne Video

When I found out about these monthly parking tags last week I was intrigued.

I’d never heard about them, never seen them before and there was no information about them on the City Of Gloucester website.  So what did I do?  What any good investigative schlep would do- I went to the source- City Hall and got myself an interview with THE MAN- City Hall Treasurer Jeffrey Towne.

Jeffrey assures me that by the time I have this video posted the information will be available on the City of Gloucester Website- Sweet!  Results!

Monkeyfist (seated and facing away) Bowsprite and Tugster Visit Gloucester

What a great visit I had from water bloggers From The North and South over the past few days.

Yesterday we went by Charlie’s Place for a great breakfast in which they all took turns mispronouncing linguica. 🙂

Many of you saw the lovely Bowsprite take her harbor swim in the cold Gloucester harbor water yesterday and know I’m a huge fan of her artwork.

Also along for the big waterblogger meet-up was Monkeyfist and Tugster.  I’ve been reading their blogs for a long while now and what is absolutely insane to me is that I never knew that Monkeyfist is actually a woman.  I had assumed that she was a he.

Tugster and Bowsprite hail from New York’s sixth borough (Tugster’s term for the Waters of New York) and Monkeyfist comes from Maine and does the awesome CascoBayBoaters blog. You can see Tugster’s blog here

They are all fantastic and if you like GMG you should really check out what these birds are doing.

Christmas Celebration At Gloucester City Hall circa 1900

In years past City Hall was used for celebrations.

These photos come from the Cape Ann Museum through Maggie Rosa.  The Banana Glam O Rama should be a real celebration and great fundraiser to help restore City Hall.
I’ll post some more old photos of City Hall over the course of this week leading up the the Glam o Rama.
