Marty Morgan Empty Bowl Open Door seeking volunteer artists to help guide painters
I love going to the Empty Bowl Dinner sponsored by the Open Door Food Pantry. My cupboard is colorfully decorated with my bowls from each year and I look forward to picking out the perfect bowl again at this year’s event on May 12th! Last year I was fortunate enough to photograph the event and captured this photo of the potters hands as she was demonstrating the bowl making process. This Saturday the Open Door is hosting a bowl painting party from 10-12 at 28 Emerson Avenue, Gloucester. You can contact them to reserve a spot (see info below)….and make sure you paint a pretty one for me!
Come decorate a bowl for the annual Empty Bowl Dinner. Painting is free. Reservations are required. RSVP volunteer@foodpantry.org
We are asking people to lend their talent to paint a bowl that will be glazed and fired and then made available at our main event, the Empty Bowl Dinner.
You can read more about the main event here: http://www.foodpantry.org/01_About_Us/empty_bowl.html
Some great folks from the Cape Ann TimeBank came down to Art Haven yesterday to paint some beautiful bowls for Open Door’s Empty Bowl fundraiser coming up on May 10th!

Hi Joey,
The snowdrifts are piled high, but spring is on the way! The Open Door Empty Bowl Dinner is right around the corner, and we need help decorating bowls for our annual May event.
The Open Door is hosting a free bowl decorating evening with North Shore 104.9 on Tuesday, February 15, at 28 Emerson Avenue in Gloucester, from 6 to 8 p.m. for anyone interested in trying their hand at painting a bowl design. The event is fun and children are welcome, but we need to know how many are coming. Reservations can be made by calling 978-283-6776 ext. 205 or e-mailing us at info@foodpantry.org.
We think it would be wicked cool if GMG came to document the event, and maybe decorated a bowl. What do you think? Attached file has the important info. We would really appreciate it if you could let GMG readers know they can participate.
