Causeway Restaurant Haddock Sandwich, originally uploaded by captjoe06.I have no idea how they make money on this at $7.99.
No need to eat the bread, the haddock was plenty on it’s own.

Lunch yesterday at the Causeway
Causeway Panini 2.7 Pound Eggplant Parm, originally uploaded by captjoe06.This is not a doctored photo. The Eggplant Parm I got from Causeway Panini yesterday weighed 2.7 pounds. The only reason I had to weigh it was because when the delivery person handed me the bag I thought there had to be two dinners in it. When I discovered that the bag only contained my one dinner I just had to throw it on the grading scale we have down here at the dock.
I ate about 35% of it and will try to eat another third of it this morning.
For $5.95 you could feed a family of three or a family of 4 if they are not big eaters.
Crazy good deal!
Causeway Panini Potofino Panini on Ciabatta, originally uploaded by captjoe06.Soooooooo Good!
Causeway Panini Portofino Panini on Ciabbata, originally uploaded by captjoe06.Stopped by Causeway Panini on Washington Street for a Portofino Panini on a Ciabatta Roll. Prociutto, Seasonings Olive oil, tomato on a nicely pressed ciabatta roll.
Delicious.
Mike’s Place Pizza, originally uploaded by captjoe06.
For lunch today I ordered up a Mike’s Place “Favorite” pizza. The “Favorite” pizza has been running as a special for $5.99 (quite a bargain).
It has a very sweet sauce if you like that kind of thing. With delivery and tax they charge $7.79
Not bad. The telephone # is 978-282-0777 if you feel like ordering one and am too lazy to look up the number.
I ordered this one for delivery but they are always super nice when you go to the shop and the place is clean as a whistle. I don’t know “Mike” but I do know they do a good job there.
Supreme Roast Beef Dinner, originally uploaded by captjoe06.Back in High School we would go to this joint in Danvers Square called Supreme Roast Beef. The owner George was always tolerant of our young juvenile behavior. The man must have the patience of a saint.
In February of last year he opened up the second Supreme Roast Beef location in the site of the former Chic’s Roast Beef. George, his son Tony and daughter Irene have spruced up the place and are always very pleasant. It’s been a nice upgrade.
Here is a picture of my Roast Beef Plate. Three way(sauce, cheese, mayo). It cost $7.65
Fantastic.

Had fried smelt at the Causeway Restaurant yesterday. $7.99 for a generous amount of fresh fried smelt and french fries. I couldn’t finish them and I can generally put away a huge amount of fried smelt.
Before ordering I was sure to ask if the smelt were fresh or previously frozen. Our most excellent server recognizing that we were seafood industry people assured us that the smelt were indeed fresh to my delight. Service was outstanding. It reminded me that this is the time of year to really take advantage of the Causeway when you can get in without the huge lines of summer. There were a ton of items all under $10. Is there anyone out there that doesn’t already know about the huge portions?
My advice is to get there now while you can, and before the throngs of summer people come and you won’t be able to enjoy this treasure of a place. Another in the long list of great joints to eat in our killer city!
View from Cruiseport, originally uploaded by captjoe06.When you look out the windows to the right the vistas are best and the deck in the summer would be a decent spot for a tourist who wants to get a feel for the industrial waterfront while dining.
I hear that’s what some out of towners want.
Port of Call Grilleded Eggplant Sandwich, originally uploaded by captjoe06.I had a grilled eggplant sandwich that was outstanding. It came with roasted red peppers, homemade pesto, and swiss cheese on a nice light delicious roll. Cost $7.50
Really really tasty.
The Caesar Salad with steak tips were colossal and looked excellent also. For the amount of steak tips and size of the salad it looked to be a bargain at $8.50
