If you are in need of an indoor a/c break, stay cool with an afternoon or evening showtime. While you’re getting snacks and seats, the movie screen glows with vintage black and white slides remonstrating movie parlor etiquette. They’re peppered with sponsor ads from local business, organizations, and other creative artists. There’s a great one from POP Gallery! Fun to see before the movie previews.

GHS Docksiders had a busy day. They played in the morning for the Plum Cove school children
with a visit from Mickey Mouse. At night they played along Main St. for Ladies shopping night downtown. Sat.they will be at the high school from 11am-1pm for their Disney Christmas carnival.

You may not cross the bridge often, but local musicians have to if they want to make a living. We love seeing locals in venues outside of Gloucester. It’s kind of like going to an away game. You get to root for the home team, except musicians never lose.
This week is the perfect chance to show your Gloucester Love for musicians at the Topsfield fair starting tomorrow 10/4 with Full Circle 7-9pm on the Kiddie Land Stage. Then on Saturday 10/6, it’s the distinctively Gloucester sound of The Bandit Kings on the Trianon Stage at 6pm and 7pm and the GHS Docksiders on the Trianon Stage at 8:30 and 9pm. You could wear your GMG T-Shirt so everybody knows you’re from G-Town.
Just to get you in the mood, here’s a fun video of the Docksiders Spring Break Fundraiser at GHS featuring a drum-off with special guest Dennis Monagle of the Bandit Kings
You know how we’re committed to starting the weekend on Thursday. Well, have you noticed that Wednesday is now the new Thursday? Nine live music choices tonight! Check out all the live music in Gloucester & Cape Ann here.
Last Saturday, the Gloucester Public School District Arts Festival took over several venues in the center of Gloucester, including City Hall, the Cape Ann Museum, the Sawyer Free Library, Alchemy, and Art Haven. I’ll be posting photos of the displays in a few of these locations.
For today, here are some photos of the musical presentations at City Hall by the GHS Chorus and the GHS Docksiders. As usual, their performances were outstanding!

There were many other beautiful moments during these performances, including the vocal talents of a student who won prizes for her performance at Disney World, but I could not capture them all.
It was appropriate that all these talented young people were performing under the message written on the wall: “Build not for today alone but for tomorrow as well.” Teaching these children and young adults to develop their talents, to share their gifts, and to dare to dream of great achievements, is an important way of building for tomorrow. Thanks and kudos to all the teachers, coaches, etc., who help the children of our community realize their potential!
Dennis Monagle of the Bandit Kings on drums and Mike Lindberg on saxophone join in on the fun.

Thanks to Leah Lovasco and the band for the current updates!
After a low key day spent at the beach and/or shopping, the Docksiders performed at the Hard Rock Cafe where they literally “rocked the house”. The manager stated that this band is “up there with the likes of some famous bands” that has played there in the past. While performing, even the kitchen staff was dancing. The bartender was so in awe of guitarist Jeremiah Sweet that he stopped what he was doing to really listen and watch. All of the Hard Rock employees were very impressed and we heard many times that this was “one of the best bands” they have heard.

42 out of the 50 on the Docksider trip to Hawaii decided to climb to the top of Diamond Head. The hike was 0.8 miles each way and climbs 560 feet up from the crater floor. There was 287 steep steps, long lighted tunnels and uneven terrain. It took all of us approximately 1.5 hours to do the round trip hike. A killer workout!
The second photo is from the very top looking over Waikkii beach.
The money has been raised for the Hawaii trip in April. The Docksider kids worked hard to get the funds together, and last night’s fundraiser at Perriwinkle’s in Essex gave the kids’ spending money. Many local businesses donated the food that the kids served.
What a hard-working group of great young people! And a community pulls together once again! Have a great trip!
