The Schooner Virginia Current Position Map
The Schooner Virginia, winner of this weekend’s race is on it’s way to Halifax, Nova Scotia.
On it’s official website they have a tracking device which shows its previous stops and it’s current position.
Click this text to check out the live map
Once you click it because the ship is off the coast it will appear to be in a sea of blue, because it is, but if you scroll out a little you can see it’s position on the map in relation to the US and Canada.
Pretty cool stuff.

Chickity Check It-Gloucester Gig Rowers Blog

I was stumbling around the internet as I normally do with my down time here at the dock and came accross this blog with many pictures of Gloucester Gig Rowers.
It seems the blog is in it’s infancy and if they keep at it a while, I’ll probably add it to the blogroll, but there are some interesting pictures to share about just what gig rowing is all about.
Check it out and get involved. I bet you can find out more information at The Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center where the Gigs are docked.

Chickity Check It- Sandy Bay Day

A couple of weeks ago someone from SandyBayDay.com contacted me and asked if I’d write a little blurb about the site that they had just put up and add a link to my blogroll. You never really know if people are serious about their blogging or community sites from the first couple of weeks.
See, at first you’re all excited watching your site take form and customizing it the way you would like. The energy level is high and you are discovering a bunch of new techy stuff to add. In the past 4 months there have been a bunch of people ask me how to start a blog so I lead them down the path and more times than not the folks don’t realize how much work it is and they let it go.
Even though SandyBayDay is in it’s infancy, I’d say if you were a Rockporter it would be a must visit site. They have made it a community type of site with a bunch of people contributing as opposed to what I do here where it’s led by mainly one person and come’s from that person’s perspective.
There is a LOT there in just a short amount of time for the Rockporter or person interested in Rockport.
Click this text to check out SandyBayDay.com and see what I’m talking about.

Chickity Check It- Deep-Sea News

Kevin Zelnio, from Deep-Sea News recognized GoodMorningGloucester yesterday in this blog entry. It’s always nice when someone thinks your stuff is interesting enough to share with others, so thanks Kevin.
What was cool about his post was that he linked to a research report that study that shows how half blue lobsters get to be half blue.
If you get a chance check out Deep-Sea News, its packed with stuff that folks like us with ties to the ocean can’t get enough of.
Check It- Cape Pond Ice

If you haven’t Chickity Checked out The Cape Pond Ice website, you’re missing some pretty good stuff.
There is a ton of old photos, history, cool gear to purchase as gifts or for yourself, and the whole thing is doneusing a pretty clean interface. For as much info as they have packed in there its pretty easy to navigate.
I learn something new just about every time I visit. For example just today I learned that they give tours and not just of it’s facility, they give tours around the waterfront.
Taking a page from The Boston Red Sox they are carrying pink logo gear for the ladies. It seems as fish landings dwindle due to govt regulations, the folks over at Cape Pond have seen the need to diversify into merchandising. Way to go.

Here is a link to check out their fantastic website- Cape Pond Ice

Blog Post about a Blog Post That References this Blog
Here’s a return shout out- HEYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!
Life’s a Typo is a blog from a gal named Kalesy(never heard that one before).
She’s been blogging a long while and updates pretty damn frequently over the course of a couple years now. That shows a real dedication. I know because there are just some days where I think nah I don’t feel much like putting anything up.
Then I think about the random folks I meet on the street that say they look forward to reading my blog daily or seeing what pics were put up. Then there’s the emails from folks that have moved away and they tell me that they love seeing pics of places around town. That sort of stuff motivates me.
I know I’m not the most gifted photographer. My theory is shoot a bunch and then go through and hope you got a few right. If a pic isn’t exactly crisp but gets the point accross, I’ll generally still post it. My intention isn’t to be a famous photographer, it’s just to share and log my life the way I see it and present what interests me.
Kelesy wrote a nice entry about my little blog so I thought I’d return the favor and give her props for keeping at it like she does. I’m sure there are folks that look forward to reading her blog and click on a bookmark to it every day, hoping that she posted somethin.
Props go to you Kalesy!
