New Manship Show by Bing McGilvray: Hockney Reproduction(s), September 11 -October 18

Caitlin Smith submits-

I was lucky enough to get a preview of the beautiful and compelling new exhibit that pays homage to David Hockney through the lens of his dear friend, local artist Bing McGilvray.

Thanks to Bing, visitors can view a remarkable collection of artifacts: sketches, multi-page faxes that constitute a larger portrait, museum posters and an enormous Taschen art book that all feature Hockney’s vividly colorful, engaging artwork.

You are warmly invited to explore this luminous show and its accompanying events! Bravo to Bing and his team at Manship.

Take a Break at Minglewood

We spent a lot of time downtown over the weekend killing time between sails and events. Minglewood on Rogers St. provided the perfect respite. The nachos are outstanding. Highly recommended. Thanks Zach and Minglewood staff for consistently good service and food options.

CORE Peer Recovery and Resource Center is happy to celebrate Recovery Month with our 4th Anniversary Open House on Tuesday, September 29th from 4:00pm to 7:00pm.  The date holds a special place in our hearts because it was the birthdate of Cory Bullard, son of our founders, Gordon and Colleen, whose tragic loss to addiction inspired the creation of our center.  So, we honor Cory and CORE by celebrating 4 continuous years of operation!!

There will be food and music, some short words of gratitude and reflection to mark the occasion, and a general good time to be had by all.  The event is open to the public so please come with whomever you like.  We want people from all walks of life to know that a space and strong community of recovery exists in Gloucester, and that our doors are open to them.  Also, there will be laughter… and food!
